1. You rather dont like the game.
or
2. you`re not sure, (so give it at least 150-200 hrs to try) """"Edit: Like Purromi said: a big learning courve.""""
or
3. you like the game and invest about 1500-4000 hrs in it.
cons you NEED to know:
- There are sometimes for some people problems with the serverconnection.
- Sometimes you will encounter enemys from other regions with a high ping. His high ping is a advantage/disadvantage for both of you. This one who peeks first gets the better chance to kill his opponent. (Or you will just trade kills).
- The Hunt forum: We have here a lot of bad (or mediocre player, like they call themselves) players, who complains every day about some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Like: Hackers, high ping advantages, Cheater, bugabuser, derender-something, no shaddow-something... etc. You need to ignore their opinions. Even if they say, that they reached 6 stars for once or twice or that they have played the game for several 1000hrs. That says nothing about their skill.
- Do not listen to tips/infos from people with less than 5 Stars. The smaller the star rating, the more tips/infos they want to give you. (for some reason) like: "i have just 3 Stars, but i know how to play the game." No, no he dont know how to play the game. Otherwise he wouldnt be 3-Star. And if you follow his "tactics" the best you can get is 3-Star.
- The Hunt Community over all is a big bad place. (but u can get used to it) If you get some friends you can play with, it will be a great game.
Just bear in mind though that your 2 hour Steam Refund limit is not going to be enough to judge anything about the game itself.
The game has a steep learning curve to play it well, but is still accessible to new players.
Just note though that after you get out of the initial safety net after a few hours you will face players with 1000's of hours gameplay compared to your 3hrs. You are likely going to get battered for hours on end at this point.
Matchmaking has no consideration to play time so its definately going to feel unfair and rightly so.
Still a great game if you get into it.
2700+ Hours for me
If I was you, I would rather wait for the engine update, and other changes, and then ask again.
Right now the game has so many problems, in comparison to other FPS games, it is unplayable in my eyes.
You will suffer, from:
1. Hit registration
2. Constant trade kills
3. Rubber banding.
4. Ping Abusers
5. Cheaters (ESP Players)
6. Exploiters (NO SHADOWS exploit, but also (NO TEXTURE exploit)
Game has very bad antialiasing, does look like a poo of the duck.
Also, LOD (Level of detail) is set very low, so you will see transitions of the assets from very low poly to better looking assets with more poly all the time.
The game is very arcade, so if you think you will hunt like the name of the game suggest, then you are wrong. People can jump on you from second floor, and they will lose just a chunk of health, but for you is over, it is impossible to react.
Most of the time, people run on you looking for a quick kill.
Smart teams are working close to each other, trying to kill separated players together, it is easy this way, because TTK in this game does let them do it.
It is very hard to fight on the open area against 3 players and win, I would say for 85% of the players it is impossible to win a fight like this.
Just wait for engine update, and read this forum, so you will see for sure honest opinions.
I have 2000 hours in this game and I would never purchase this game right now, it is so much different, from the time, so the beginning of the game, when I decided to make my purchase.
Nothing left from the original idea, so HARDCORE & TACTICAL gameplay.
When you look at early gameplay, the game was slow, and very immersive.
Right now is just run and gun, like any other FPS, specially in 5 stars.
This is early gameplay, so you can see how it was at the beginning.
Right now night maps are a joke.
Light sources in the buildings does not make any sense.

I tried not to be negative in my advice on the game but this guy hits the nail on the head with what you are likely to face.
But it is really a good game to experience as it is completely unique. The sale price is cheap enough to give it a go
The 6 Stars have "other problems" problems who are not getting noticed from other players. Like: if you press F after jumping for 0,5sec faster you will get faster forward with +10fps or whatever. I know what you mean, But if its a problem, im ok if they talk about this "special/rare" problem.
doxxing, 3star, solos. Thats the people we dont like. Best you can do is ignoring them. Noone "needs" to play in Teams. Just play how you want.
They sincerely cover and warn you about the good and bad things of the game.
Without any hate in the message.
I mean it is not about money, I rather want to save him from disappointment, and suffering.
I forget to say, about not satisfying kills.
In this game, and only in this game, you never know if you kill your enemy with one shot or three shots.
The shotguns are the best example for it.
There were dozens of situations, where I could not kill the enemy with 1-2 shots.
For unknown reason, game register hand after first shot, then register second hand with second shot. And then I was killed.
At the same time, people with crossbow, can kill you with one shot in the arm or leg.
The most funny thing is that sometimes people killed me with shotgun with one shot in the arm for 150 HP.
I mean, you never know what will happen, this game is the most unpredictable game ever made.
This is why, even if I kill 5 people, I do not feel any satisfaction.
The killing in this game does not give me any happiness.
And this is the worst thing to me, because FPS games are made to give you fun from killing other players, sadly this game does not give me this experience.
If you're looking for a challenge to kill zombies like in WarZ, back 4 blood, left fo dead...
The game has different zombie style, but more focused on hunting.
The sound of the game is one of the best I've played, if not the best.
Killing a discreet guy between 2 boards, a mini crack, you just find that in hunt. The sound of chains in the trees, the crows, the dogs... The game has its own morbid atmosphere.
The community is great, very little toxic, even in random parts, don't hesitate, hello your two teammates, say your style of gameplay and start the adventure...
My first 40 hours was catastrophic, but I listened to Hornet videos on YT to improve my gameplay. I'm at 2260 hours and I have no regrets!
You should not rush to the call of duty, when you rush, be sure of the location of your enemies. with time just with the sound you can manage to take headshots across floors from time to time xD
Buy it! hunt has a Unique style, A peaceful place that really exists in real life The Bayou in Lousianne, their alligator, their culture and legend is very interesting...
So even if Pioner, beautiful light wants to copy the style of the PVeVP games Good luck getting past Hunt -Showdown.
In 2260 hours I haven't yet had the impression of doing the same thing again, each game is very different
Buy hunt showdown, did I tell you that again? haha
The game also has a pretty low number of players at the moment, so matchmaking is more likely to put you against people who know what they're doing. They probably won't be all that good at the game, but their knowledge of the maps and gameplay will still give them a big edge over you.
I'd recommend waiting for the big update on the 15th of August. Unless something goes wrong, there'll probably be a huge peak in players, especially newer or more casual ones. Right now there's not much going on in the game so most of the players still playing are pretty dedicated, even if they're not particularly skilled.
You'll also see a TON of incredibly negative people around here. Most of the people on this forum, especially the ones who create threads, are constantly angry about every tiny little thing. Some of the complaints are legitimate, many are greatly exaggerated.
tl;dr definitely worth it, but best to pick it up on sale on August 15th and try to drag a friend or two in with you.
Maybe after over 6 years of playing and the same stuff is still broken is a hint to why they are negative about the game.
This is so funny, lol
