Are you using Reshade? Or maybe have some cheats for other games installed? I have read that it can get people banned even if it's not related to the specific game.
"I assumed any factory software from a big manufacturer wouldn't be an issue, especially since the keyboard seems to have enhancements for Hunt Showdown (LEDs turn blue in dark sight)."
^
This could actually be the issue. Just guessing though. I don't use any fancy integrations. (RGB or whatever)
Yes, iCue, Razer Synapse and Chroma were installed.
It's absurd if an RGB integration is what did it. I didn't program the keyboard to turn colors based on Hunt, it was default behavior whatever it was. I did have a profile on the keyboard in Synapse so it changed colors when you typed, and the custom keys on the keyboard don't work unless Synapse was running.
I understand that not everyone is super tech savy. But I'd say it's online gaming common sense to not use 3rd party programs that hooks onto processes to get information from games.
Anyways, Crytek/Easy Anti Cheat should be able to see if it really was false positive or not.
Write them an appeal ticket.
Good luck.
itl just take some time because going through that sorta thing is a slow process.
also because i can +rep for having a 19yr old account lol
So, either they can't recognize what caused the issue is non-malignant or it's a piece of software they don't understand or recognize (such as the Dante audio app I use) or it's another process I can't see in the system tray running. Again, waiting to see if Crytek will intervene. Given the non-disclosure of evidence, they can say anything they want and I have to accept it, so I'm resigned to the loss. I had a decent amount of DLC also.
As for the comments about it being non-absurd if I was banned for running iCue or Razer Synapse. No, it would be absurd, if proven true.
These are products made by major companies and there's no mechanism to inform people not to use them because EAC doesn't disclose what you get banned for. I shouldn't be able to buy a keyboard or mouse at Best Buy from a trusted maker and find myself banned from a game. Veritably, you buy from trusted companies because you assume they would avoid such issues.
I have another phone number, if I knew the issue and it was my fault I'd simply rebuy the game on a fresh Steam account. But that doesn't lead to any understanding of what happened, and doesn't help me avoid whatever caused the problem in the future.
Without knowing, I'm literally formatting my computer, I don't know if other programs I've bought are actually going to set it off again, maybe even buying new hardware. It's a nightmare. Re-buying Hunt would be the least of my problems.
you were banned?
False positives can occur but they are really rare these days. It’s almost 100% that you did not get banned for peripherals. Hell, i’m surprised you got banned at all, LOL. Regardless EAC reviews the cases individually, if they detected something they know what it is, and if there was a false positive they will overturn.
You said you had around 1200 hours—any chance you abused reshade in the past and came back to play oblivious to the new official rules? I’ll have a laugh just in case that’s what happened.
Also you just dumped lots of money on peripherals yet you are 40 and not trying to game? Huh?
I'm particular about keyboards and I write a lot (if anyone missed that...). I can type faster on the Razer keyboards than anything I've tried due to the placement of the keys. Can't use the Corsairs, which I make tons of errors on. I actually liked the new Razer enough that I got curious how well it would play with Hunt and that was the original trigger to re-install and go gaming again. If that matters. Can see from my profile it was 5.6 hours before the ban hit.
They will check to see if those things trip their anti cheat and if they feel it's fine will reverse the ban. Crytek won't do anything though for an EAC ban.
No, reshade has to be installed into a specific game's direct launch folder. You couldn't accidentally do it; and even if you did install it, the anti cheat just force-quits the game at launch and tells you to remove it.
So that is not it nor is it a concern.
