Hunt: Showdown 1896

Hunt: Showdown 1896

SOLVED Hunt keeps freezing, tried every possible way i found online.
Updated everything even bios and still crashing, tried rollback the nvidia updates, even windows update, nothing helps at all. Bought the game, first few games no issues, then it started freezing (one freeze per 2 games and now everytime) Tried different settings, all ways that were on forums, reddit, etc. Any ideas?
1060 6gb MSI Armored
FX8350
16G RAM
I have no issues with any other game and i play them on max settings, such as new MW, Warzone, etc.

you mean computer freeze, game freeze or lag freeze? Regardless good luck finding help.
Game freeze and then after a while it loads me to menu with no error or simply continues to play. Tried all settings, updated even bios. Not a single thing outdated in my pc... Forwarded ports for hunt, registry, indexing. Basically everything i found in past 2 days. I am on the edge of insanity right now...

have you tried deleting your user folder? did you verify game files? .. check event viewer to see if any errors generated that might point towards the cause of your woes .. ..

CPU/GPU temps?
what are you running for a PSU?
Game installed on spinner or SSD? ..is game installed on the same drive that your OS is installed on?
Are you wired or wireless? Have you tried rebooting your router?
Have you tried running DDU to fully remove all things Nvidia and then reinstall latest drivers?
have you updated your chipset and network drivers?

what server(s) are you playing on?

If your game is not on the SSD, but it is, put it on the SSD. Check your hard drive for bad sectors and errors. Do you have enough free space on your hard disk?
Does your memory work in two channels? If you can overclock it and raise its frequency, then do it.
Also, you did not write what resolution you have and what graphics settings.
As I understand it, the FX8350 is comparable to the i7 4770k (I play this one). If you can overclock it, then try it. I have an overclocked processor. Without overclocking in stock, it will most likely not be enough and it will be loaded to 100%.
Download MSI Afterburner or any similar program and see how much the processor and video card are loaded. 1060 may not be enough for hunting (although still depends on graphics and resolution settings). Show screenshot. You need to look at the temperature of the processor and video card, at the load of the hardware.
Is your antivirus running? If so, try unplugging and playing without it. See if you have background processes in Windows that can consume PC resources.
Check Windows for viruses.
Reinstall the game.
Do you have "instant replay" enabled in the Geforce experience for recording highlights? It also takes some of the resources and loads the PC
Set it to the minimum resolution and try it out, compare your hardwire load to the native resolution.
In advanced graphics settings, enable only the bottom two checkboxes.

I will add that after the last patch all my friends sometimes have micro freezes. Perhaps the patch itself introduced a degradation in optimization

Tried CPU with OC and without OC, debug mode for GPU, forwarding ports, i found like 12 solutions online, tried all of them.
I can run it on max graphic settings 70 to 100 fps, CPU was never hot, never hit the 100% usage same for GPU, i tried all the basic solutions and nothing helps. I have Geforce experience turned off (never used it). I play on 1920x1080 on 144hz monitor. Yes RAM runs in dual channel 4x 8G sticks in two pairs. Seems there is an issue with supporting FX series in Hunt.
Turned off antivirus and even tried to add the exclude for the game/anti cheat.
I turned off the indexing, i play on ssd, 90Gb free space (should be more than enough for Hunt lol)
Updated bios, nothing is outdated right now.
First 3 to 4 games went totally fine without freezing and then it started every second game and later every game has freeze for 30 seconds to a minute, then it continues to play or kicks me 50/50 chance.
Solution: Change BIOS SATA modes from IDE to AHCI and it works like a charm, they told me that FX8350 is old crap... pfff playing on max settings right now at stable 60 and unlocked 60 to 90 stable. No laggs, no freezing, just had 2 games with 0 issues, killed few hunters with some crappy revolver i got in quickplay. Lets hunt more! :D Thanks for your time guys. :)

For the future... you should generally try to use AHCI nowadays if possible but as a general rule of thumb, if you got an SSD, definitely set AHCI. And try to do that in advance before installing an OS because it can cause issues if changed manually afterwards. Not necessarily, but it can happen and your install might not boot.

If you don't, your SSD will not run at full specs.

I set it to AHCI in past but it changed to IDE i would never assume it could change, but i was expanding the memory, restoring windows, many things in past 2 years and since i had 0 issues i never checked it, only when i saw a comment about it and i just updated BIOS. Many things at the same time, but this thing should be mentioned in FAQ on HUNT page/support. I have seen so many angry and frustrated comments about it, saw issues on FX series, i5, etc. :)

Probably this changed when you updated (or flashed) your BIOS

Glad you found the fix you tore that thing apart =)

Hunt is an I/O ♥♥♥♥♥ .. it's been awhile since I've had to mess with IDE vs AHCI anything due to newer rigs ..it's just automatic and IDE isn't an option . .Thanks for the reminder! :steamhappy:

what is the difference between IDE and AHCI and when someone should use it?
Collateral damage Aug 16, 2020 @ 10:26am
My games are installed on nvme SSD and hunt has been freezing since 1.4.2 came out. It's not like there's a fix for it or anything. Everyone experience it, they just don't admit it. Everyone who said they don't have problems with latest update after a short talk admit the game has been freezzing for them all the time and they didn't notice any change. That still means everyone experience freezes.

Got one freeze in 6 games, still better than freeze in every game... :D That game is a nightmare to run probably. :))
