HUNT MMR SYSTEM (WE NEED TO TALK!)
WTF is up with the MMR system in this game???

SUGGESTION? Maybe add a filter to the game where you can't get matched with mmrs higher than yourself, but the catch is that your matchmaking timer will be increased, some of us that have a little bit more time on our hands can wait for a match, people that don't can quickly jump into a match.

MMR is and has been ♥♥♥♥. Average should be 3-4 star yet I see most players are literally in 4 star so it's not averaged correctly. They really need to branch out the MMR system to be less punishing by doing well for a short period of time only to suffer for a long period of time. I feel you do a couple of good game and the rest become horrible.

There is an ELO system stacked on top of an MMR bracket system.
The ELO system adds/removes MMR based on who you kill/get killed by. The bracket system or "MMR Buckets" as the devs call them is how the playerbase is divided into pools of available players for matchmaking. The number of brackets is determined by the number of available players online. Each bracket is filled with people from X MMR to Y MMR.

The devs explained this after they put the star ranking system in the game.
I think you misunderstood their words somewhat then, specifically regarding the brackets. The stars are NOT the brackets, they are an indication of where your MMR currently stands and they have nothing to do with the matchmaking itself.

You have a number as your MMR. From 0-2000 it shows as 1*, 2000-2300 is 2*, 2300-2600 is 3*, 2600-2750 is 4*, 2750-3000 is 5* and 3000+ is 6*. You can find these numbers ingame under "Show MMR legend" after a match in the team details.

When the game tries to find a match for you it takes your MMR (or the highest MMR in a team) and then tries to find players that are within a certain range of that, say +/-200 points, I don't know the exact number. If it can't find enough players to fill the lobby it'll increase that range/bracket up to a certain point and if it still can't find people it will then just start a match.

Furthermore, if you examine the point ranges for the stars more closely, you'll see that the range for 3* at 300 points is the same as the ranges for 4/5* combined. So if you're in a team of high 3*s you're pretty likely to meet a team of low 5* (especially when the server popualtion is low) whereas you'll practically never see 5* if you're in a team of low 3*s.

Also keep in mind that solos, random teams and duos in trios get their MMR adjusted downwards to varying degrees for the purpose of matchmaking to make up for their respective shortcomings somewhat.
no, it doesnt. I'm not talking about stars. What you are describing is a dynamic Matchmaking system which hunt does not have. It splits the players into pools(brackets) based on polulation with those pools being based on an MMR range, and then creates lobbies from those pools. the game does not dynamically create lobbies based on +/- MMR from one player/team. The reason this is bad is because you can get stuck at the bottom of an MMR pool where almost everyone you face has higher MMR than you so dying loses very little MMR while getting a kill gains you a large amount of MMR, creating a one-way ratcheting effect.

its pretty BS that your MMR can go up even if you don't make it out with a bounty all night. I can't count the number of nights ive started as a 3-4 star and ended up a 5 star but still down 10k because we just keep getting 3rd partied.

Yup also another issue regarding the mmr system.

YES, i have felt that too. My friend eliminated a solo mmr 6 guy around 5 times cause he kept on reviving himself right in front of us during the challenge, and his mmr hasn't dropped for the past 20 games or so.

Seems I misunderstood the system then, thank you for clarifying.

So you're smurfing with 1-star deranker/new player and get angry that you get placed against teams with your actual mmr (5) ?

At least in this instance the mmr system works right, for the wrong reason tho.

The guys ID is right there in front of your eyes... maybe check his account see his playtime than make a comment without thinking it through. You are what is wrong with hunt unfortunately

This comment is the best one yet. Congratulations.
I was *this* close to leaving you ignored, but the smile you put on me and my friends' faces was too precious and I'm a grateful person.
So here we go. (again, *sigh*)

First of all, derankers can't derank to 1 star, get educated.
Second, I wanted to play with my friend to have fun as a group, I know this sounds unfamiliar with people who have no friends (*ahem* maybe you? *ahem*).
Third, you'd be surprised if you figured out that not only we did not smurf, but also got an unfair fight, and got smacked by the 6*.

Boy you amaze me :D

Bruh, if you think that's fair for a 4*, 5*, 1* to go against 5*, 5*, 6* or all 5* you have to have something wrong with you. Even having that single 4* on your team should make it more fair but this is essentially asking to get sh** on. The skill discrepancy between 4* and 5* is massive. It's even doubly so with 6*.

Yes, it's dogsht.

What is wrong it is not about MMR. It is about given time of finding balanced teams. Look at the cs2, you can wait from 3 to 5 minutes for a balanced game while in Hunt when servers are full in most cases you get your match in 2 seconds. I don't speak about worst cases when servers are empty because you won't find a match in this situation.
