Hunt: Showdown 1896

Silenced winfield is really, really bad.
I've used it a handful of times, originally used it when I was a newblet, shot someone 4 times in pretty close range without killing them, vowed to never touch it again. Tried it again a few times recently and just cannot make it work for me. Hit someone 3 times, did a whopping 113 damage total, ended up finishing the fight with melee because that was just genuinely more effective than using the actual gun. The iron sights are way too obstructive to reliably go for headshots, it's like an aperture without the benefits of having an aperture. Any silenced winfield mains who can help me figure out how tf you're supposed to use this trash?

It's good with levering in close combat as for ranged combat it's mainly a matter of getting used to the iron sights and using high vel ammo. Winnies are well known headshotting machines in this game, a good alt to the officer carbine having a higher body shot damage to close range and the fire rate normally allows you to beat out most rifles in it's range. 30-35 meters is good 2 tap range, it's fire rate really starts to shine (true for basic winnie c to) easily out pacing long ammo guns in the open at that range - the krag to a degree.

The fire rate is also very true for most compacts, they lack the punch of long ammo at distance and pen and the middle ground of medium ammo and the power of intense bleed dum dum (compact get's light bleed) ammo. But much like a shotgun in there range the fire rate starts to out shine pure damage per shot - 1 tapping people with bars down.

Part of the reason winnie is a headshotting machine is due to very little to no sway with the basic winnie c variant with high vel going to 600m/s on the silenced? it's 450 the fastest silenced gun, besides silenced bornhime hv at 460 (though that may be replaced by silent cent hv coming up soon)

But mostly silent winnie is a rat tool at least in my book, it's something I use to complete weeklys during events or when my goal is to swap it out for a more expensive gun from a dead hunter being a vulture rat (like doing that once a week for fun).

To keep it short and simple instead, it's good close range with levering, being able to 2 tap within 30-35 meters at most using iron sight (35 being the max kill range in 2 shots to the chest), with good fire rate if you can get over the iron sight issues. If you can get used to the velocity with hv it's also a good headshotting machine up to 60-70 ish meters (kill range is further but at that point it's harder to hit headshots) It's the fastest silence weapon in terms of velocity besides bornhiem with hv ammo. It's an excellent pve tool with fire ammo and hv due to it's high ammo pool as well, and it costs very little so it's relatively safe to run if money is a concern for you and super useful for ratting if you don't mind doing that.

you have to respect your proper range with it, and that it gets overshadowed pretty easy in fights... the irons are super good and it levers pretty well, and it's super cheap

For me iron sights sucks hard. Too hard to click head on strafing player. They should rework this to have same silencer like vetterli with better sights.

Yeah sad they arent atleast reworking the iron sights of the silenced sparks and winnie to make them viable, since the silenced vetterli got released even less of a reason to use them. I asked the main dev about the iron sights but he said they arent planning to change them.
