Sorry to be a hater but katanas?
If they want to add goofy stuff why not expand the aesthetics of bomblance? It fits the overall theme much much better than anime stuff.

I'm looking forward to the pink DLC katana skin with a DLC Japanese charm attached

I remember it as fantasy zombie killing game and katana wont change that so?...

I don't know how a Katana correlates to anime stuff. Regardless the Japanese during the period this game takes part of were in a really interesting situation, around the Meiji restoration and the opening of trade with the west. We already have Japanese characters, and having interesting new weapons is always appreciated.
I'd be fine with all the foreign weapons if they'd add all the guns you'd see in 1800s America first. Like a spencer carbine or Remington 1875

Look I don't question that a Katana could appear at the location and time the game is taking place as I guess many other exotic items. I only question why add those exotic items instead of something more belonging to the game. Also there isn't any mechanic dictating rarity (although price is to some extent) so there is nothing preventing katanas become suddenly a common weapon. When something like that happens the games theme stops being consistent and that's universally bad.

I'm looking forward to 98% of my shotgun pellets hitting an enemy at 3M and trading due to their katana strike.

Why the heck they concentrating on melee weapons? I guess because everyone ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about long ammo.

If we going to have swords then I propose battles like Bushido Blade on the original PlayStation.
That was absolutely fantastic

>Meanwhile, as the completion of the transcontinental railway was drawing near, political and economic sanctions in Japan coupled with America’s need for labor, influenced many young Japanese men to go overseas to seek their fortunes and new lives in “the land of opportunity”. Most were young single men who went to Hawaii first, before heading to the mainland for better job opportunities, some with intentions of going back to Japan after making their fortunes and some intending to make the United States their new home. Labor agents, or “bosses” made arrangements to find jobs, housing, food and clothing for these men in exchange for a fee and percentage of their earned wages. After working on a section gang himself, Edward Daigoro Hashimoto found his way to Salt Lake City and established the E. D. Hashimoto Company in 1902. Nicknamed “The Mikado”, he furnished section gangs for the Western Pacific and Denver Rio Grande Railroads, along with miners for Bingham and Carbon County. By 1906, over 13,000 Japanese immigrants worked for the railroads. A few years later, at the urging of anti-Asian groups in the west, Japan was pressured and agreed to stop labor immigration to the United States under the Gentleman’s Agreement of 1908. Working on the section gangs was a harsh life, especially for those who now had families.

We have lack of exotic weapons actually. When Crytek adds guns ppl cry its weak and stands no chance vs mosin and lebel or sparks. How often do you see medium ammo guns or krag/berthier? Same with new revolvers, they are fun for a moment but then everyone goes for uppercut or something for fanning. I dont blame them for adding weapons for us to have fun instead of another gun that nb use.

Honestly, I would have loved to have throwing shurikens, just like we have those throwing knives and axes.

remember when the cavalry saber was a sword that was used for horse riding (currently the only sword in the game besides reskins)

and japaneese used katanas for that exact same reason?

rather than any type of sword being associated with animie?

If I recall correctly, wasn't the Mosin realistically a weapon you don't see at all? Even if you called it the Nagant Rifle 91 or Three Line Rifle, you'd have to brought it from Russia to ever know of it, let alone see it. Wasn't even commercially sold to anybody for a good while. Why would the Katana be any different in this instance with Hunt Showdown, the overall "Theme" was out the window a long time ago. If the game somehow allowed certain guns that wouldn't be possible, I don't see why the Katana wouldn't either.

Personally, I'd prefer to see more whackier weapons, like the Guycot Chain Pistol/Rifle. Though I imagine balancing that would be a nightmare when the pistol comes with 40 rounds of total capacity to fire, or 80 with the rifle. No need to reload, or hope you don't since that thing is a nightmare of a design choice.

Well logically nobody would take a katana over a saber irl. Katanas are terrible and straight up lose to every sword out there because of its poor metal, thats why they had to be folded multiple times to make them viable. Even the samurai used their bow and spear first before switching to a katana in combat. I just find it weird that its better than the saber ingame when it clearly isnt irl.
