They both have a place, I don’t see any problem with them. Meele/shotgun will beat fanning (or aiming) same goes for levering. They have more range but might not hit at all.. or take up too much time. Giving you time for a headshot.

I bet an auto shotgun with slugs will outpace both unless you are not using levering or fanning.

Don't listen to this guy. He actually have no experience in the game.
Romero or crossbow can be a game changer, when in the right hands. Those spamming weapons are completely unreliable compared to the one-hit wonders like Romero or crossbow.

To OP, I can feel your pain. It's ridiculously often that you even get a fanning/levering perk combo on a new hunter.

Crossbow does not, it's a 1 shot weapon with a long reload time. If you miss or just clip them, you're going to get pelted by so many bullets in the coming three seconds.

Shotguns tho are stupidly OP and need a hard ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nerf or rework. I legit started running Terminus with levering, easiest thing to use in the game, I don't even aim anymore and rack up 6+ kills most games. Ooop half assed a shot? That's okay, I've got five more to lever off before the enemy Hunter can blink.

The gun balance is pure ♥♥♥♥ rn.

No fanning isn't.
I have and had unloaded a chain pistol and hit/ was hit by nothing.

For fanning it is all about the pistol you take.
The best pistol for fanning is Nagant silence with high velocity
The new 2nd best is the Pax True Shot
And the worst is the Uppercut. Only good at close range.
And fire one shot is not fanning.

modern hunt is just a sad husk of the hardcore game it used to be. being able to respec traits/healthbars without bb is probably one of the worst choices crytek has made so far.
i can start every game with levering (guaranteed) and probably quartermaster.
oh, and players can spend $100 to get a hunter with guaranteed necro and 5 health bars so they can spam rez and get deranked for easier games.
