Hunt: Showdown 1896

Hunt: Showdown 1896

Games like Hunt: Showdown, but singleplayer?
I really like the aesthetics and atmosphere of H:S, but over the past few months, I've completely lost patience with Battle Royales (and Extraction Royales) as a genre. Running around for 20 minutes with little action, only to get domed by a sniper I couldn't have seen, is not my idea of fun these days.

So I'm curious, are there any games like H:S in either atmosphere or gameplay, but singleplayer; a survival-style game with an eldritch horror theme, esp. with a swamp or Western setting?

This game is frustrating the first 100 hours but the juice is well worth the squeeze.

However, if you want a single player with great gameplay and atmosphere look at 'The Astronauts' game- WITCHFIRE. However, there's a catch. It's in beta. You can play it right now (buying directly through epic games/Astronauts, soon to be available on steam) but I'd wait until 1.0. I played a few hours and loved the atmosphere and gameplay, only it greatly needs a bit of story and some characters, which I believe they are adding. When it properly arrives it will be soaked in atmosphere every bit as much Hunt and the gameplay is nice and crispy.

Witchfire looks to fit the bill; it being an Epic Exclusive explains why I haven't heard of it until now. The storefront is a marketing black hole. Any idea when the Steam release will be?

I would search for 'The Astronauts' website for all the details on the roadmap.

However, I would highly recommend waiting until the full release. What it is right now is the foundation for a great game. They still have at least a year of work to do.

For me, I felt the same way and Blood West did the trick.

Got the Remnant series. It is Hunts spiritual brother since it was what Hunt was originally suppose to be before it got picked up by Crytek.
Hey, you know what would hit the spot? 'Call of Juarez: Gunslinger." (If you haven't already played the Metro series, obviously.) 'Call of Juarez' is an overlooked game that if really fun. It's not a huge expansive thing like RDR2, just a linear and fun bit of old West action.
