In addition, with the engine update, new bugs appear. Now the game has been more or less fine-tuned over several years, and I would understand the decision to switch to a new engine if there was the following logic behind it: we tried to optimize the game so that as many people as possible could play it comfortably, but we squeezed out everything that could have come from the old engine, so we are switching to new technologies that will allow us to further optimize the game. Well, or alternatively, I would understand such a decision if it were made for the implementation of some grandiose game decisions. But I really doubt that on the new map it will be possible to implement such grandiose gameplay solutions that are worth changing the engine for and which cannot be implemented on the current engine. Well, what do they want to come up with? Footprints in the snow that would remain throughout the entire gaming session? If something like that, then I doubt that it requires a new engine.
By competitive pvp game I don't mean eSports game. I talked about why this game is played, about what this game is conceptually. Well, let's say a game like Red Dead Redemption 2 is an open world game, a game that recreates virtual reality filled with adventures and stories. A game like RDR has primarily artistic and aesthetic goals; it needs to look beautiful and believable, so the pursuit of graphics at the expense of frame rate is completely justified. Performance isn't that important in slow firefights with stupid bots. Hunt Showdown is first and foremost a game about shooting games with other people. In this game, pvp is a priority part of the game; good performance is important here, not beautiful graphics.
You have a very unique take on competetive....
What does e-sport has to do with the competetiveness of hunt?
All PvP games are competitive don't confuse competitive and tournament competitive. This game is so competitive it's full of cheaters that will cry and piss their pants if they'd lose a fair fight..
So don't worry, if you're able to play on max settings with good 60 fps your hardware will be able to play on the new engine as well, though i don't understand the need of having max settings at all but that's another topic.
Well, look. It is stated that changing the engine will create a problem for 10%, that is, for every tenth player. Where does this 10% come from? Why are they there? As a rule, the point is either that a person, in principle, does not need a new console or a new computer, since, for example, he is not interested enough in the games that are coming out now. Or it is difficult for him to upgrade due to financial considerations.
Here's my example. On the one hand, although I have an old computer, it is powerful enough to play new single-player games at medium settings, and this suits me because I don’t find new games interesting enough. The most vivid impressions in recent years have come from indie games like Outer Wilds and Disco Elysium. On the other hand, I live in Russia and we have high prices for computer components, so updating a computer is a problem. And perhaps now, due to the update of this engine, I will have to spend a lot of money. Spending a lot not to discover the new generation gaming market (which is not very interesting to me), but to continue playing the same game as before only with the addition of special snow, playing the same game for which similar updates due to its specification are not needed. This evokes approximately the same feelings as if you were robbed for the amount of a month’s salary, your monthly salary was taken from you, and in return they were given almost nothing new, they were simply handed a useless trinket like some kind of technological snow on a new map.
