I appreciate some take a silenced Nagant or hand crossbow to replace throwing knife utility, but that takes up a valuable side-arm slot for PvE. I don't fancy running around a map with a shotgun and a hand crossbow as I'd have zero capacity to seriously hurt any Hunter over about 20m metres away. Sure the Nagant is more effective than knives, but wasting ammo on AI and environment isn't a great idea IMO. Weapon slot choices should always be strictly for having PvP in mind.
Exactly. But even when you'd be able to remove immolators, you'd trigger the soundtrap from it exploding, just like poison arrows do, since the damage type is not blunt.
However, this'd be very interesting as a covert movement tool, especially vs. water devils.
The axes still feature better wire cutting utility and are deadly in melee, so pick your poison i guess XD
But a poison coating is necessary imo.
Also, if I want range for utility, I usually take silenced pistol or, more often, hand crossbow. Hand crossbow just gives more utility than both axes and knives, and is actually functionally usable in combat, so it's not a "You've lost your sidearm!" moment, it's still basically a shotgun with slugs, without piercing.
