Base game is great, yes. But shouldn't you want a larger player pool and to have something for people to always be engaged with to have those people there to play and queue against? Last week at this time there was about 10k players at this time. We're currently about to go under 6k. Events or BP's with things to work for keep player counts up and queue's faster
Steam monitors global use. The numbers and statistics are for overall time played around the clock in all regions. According to your comment though. A loss of 4k players at this time of night since a week ago is normal for this game? Or any game?
Also. "Bra" is what women use. Stop trying to live in the early 2000's lol
What are you going on about. BP's aren't gambling. It's a reward system for playing the game and keeping you invested in it. There's a difference in a BP and loot boxes/gacha system. I'm beginning to think you don't know what you're talking about in regards to player retention/engagement
There's no "trusting" you in this matter. It's factual that a BP is not, in any way shape or form, gambling. You aren't rolling the dice on anything. You aren't getting a random item given to you like a loot box. If they are telling you it's gambling, they themselves are also wrong lol
Gambling is Loot Boxes. It's a Gacha game. It's anything with a CHANCE percent at getting what you want out of the system.
All a BP does is retain a player base throughout a given amount of time. Once that goes away, player numbers go back down because there aren't people working towards a reward. People working towards a reward means players in the queue playing the game. The people who have it done are playing to take out said players, therefore retaining their engagement against the others. Will those people stick around after the others leave? Most likely, yes. But from what i've read in these discussions and from comments even on their stream today, people want retention and a higher player count.
Many features of the event aren't really fitting with the long term goals of the game. They are meant to be here only for a limited time. And some things like the thundershowers are meant to stay, but they were overexposed for the event and now need to go back to a normal level so that the rest of the game continues alongside the new feature.
Simply put, this isn't just stringing players into playing the game constantly. It did boost players during the event, but it was more about introducing a few features and delivering some story.
The way that Hunt runs fits more with having downtime between events so that there isn't a constant flood of must play now moments. We are supposed to chose when to play. We aren't supposed to be on the job trying to get every unlock during every moment of playtime.
In saying that, it is THERE job to make revenue. Players not playing? Less revenue being made. More downtime while queue'd, leaving to more people just going to play something that has faster queue times. Etc. Yes. The EVENT had to end. But the BP and things associated could very well continue until a new pass is there. Making something to work for instead of just playing for the hell of it. I have far more games I can put time into. DO I wanna play Hunt? Yeah sure. But I also have more things coming out that have rewards that draw my attention. And that goes for quite a bit of gamers. All Hunt gamers? Nah, of course not. But you have to hit the market how it is. I've seen plenty of posts talking about player counts and how low they are and how it's "Dying" etc.
EDIT: I mean, they could be wrong and just complaining at the end of the day. But even at 7k-9k players worldwide I still have like 5 minutes of searching sometimes for a match in 3's.
