Consider the new blood bond system coming up from a new player perspective.

This is all about the fact that they are removing after match blood bonds.

Quick Recap for the people that need it.

The way it used to work is that after the end of the match depending on your actions you get a couple Blood Bonds (premium currency).

This would slowly stack up to getting enough for a skin or 2. But the biggest point was that it wasnt time gated. So you could keep earning the blood bonds.

Now they are changing it to weekly challenges that you get 50 blood bonds for. Now that doesnt sound to bad to a veteran that has already gotten so much value out of the game.



But think for a second about the new player experience.

You just bought the game, 40 dollars/euros, and now there are skins for 1000 blood bonds.

Thats 20 WEEKS of time that you have to wait/grind to get that skin. That more than a third of a year.
On top of this they keep pushing battle passes and that you also need blood bonds for GAMEPLAY purposes.
This includes Loadout Slots and Hunter Slots.
These come at 150 per slot. Thats 3 weeks per slot. Thats alot of time you need to spend for basic gameplay features.

The game basically became a free 2 play game but with a 40 dollar/euro price tag.
The only difference between the monetisation of this game and overwatch is that overwatch has a rotating shop.

Oh and dont forget the over 300+ dollars/euro total dlc's that sell quite well looking at reviews alone. Do keep in mind that only about ~10% tend to leave reviews and for dlc's thats even lower. So assume the review count to be about 5-10% at best of the full ownership of the dlc.


Overall im very disappointed with the way hunt is going. The way its monetized feels 1 to 1 to league of legends. It feels like the management has changed over the years.

Add on top of this how slow actual content is compared to how heavily monetized the game is with its DLC's, Skins, Charms and Battle Passes.

The time gating that they are so focused on feels like it would eventually be worse for the player base. After doing weeklies you barely get rewards. Because after your first prestige the only actual progression left is cosmetic. So it feels like playing has less of an impact to your overall progression.


Hopefully the studio considers changing either their price tag to free to reflect everything else they have been doing or to stop crippling blood bond income for PAYING players.

TLDR:

As a new player with the new system it would take you 20 weeks to get a 1000 blood bond skin. The game is monetized exactly like overwatch or league. Both free to play games. Yet this game is 40 euros/dollars.

Overwatch 1 was a paid game. Overwatch 2 which is the only overwatch you can play these days is free. I would specify which overwatch if both of them were playable but considering they are not it doesnt matter if i specify or not.

3 of those have such a small chance of happening that they might as well be forgotten.
5 and 6 are in cryteks hands and considering what they are doing now it wouldnt be out of place to assume that it will get reduced or simply never done anymore.

The only actual way to earn bloodbonds that arnt random chance is the weekly.

Nothing you require to play the game costs money.

Skins are pretty.

Loadout slots are unnecessary.

Hunter slots are unnecessary.

Don't buy it and your game play literally doesn't change. You don't need pretty clothes and shiny guns to win. You don't need extra hunter slots to win. You don't need more pre-set load outs to win.

Also, even if they made the weekly reward good enough that this turned out to be a buff, time gating just feels awful psychologically.

If I had any use for blood bonds I would hate this change.

I had heard the game was already 100% cheaters, so it wouldn't change the ratio, just the raw numbers.

Game was released 2018 people like me have used like 50€ to this game in those 5 years.
10€ per year minus taxes, salaries, etc. .
And you have too ask why they need to get some money? Company that is still in financial problems. I would advice if you like the game buy something or soon there might be no Hunt.

If I already never bought any dlc (not because of any protest, I just don't care about cosmetics), but I do think the upcoming change is somewhat bad, how do I show that vote with my wallet?

3) I played for almost 500 hours and only saw a single cash register with BBs in it.

Look at a player count trend, the game is picking up players who BUY THE GAME.

non randomized cosmetic purchases is a relatively inoffensive monetization scheme... though as someone who doesn't care at all about cosmetics that's pretty easy for me to say.

For someone like me this is optimal as it means the game is supported in a way that doesn't tempt me or cost me money. I'm still pissed about payday 2 and am glad hunt doesn't charge money for new guns, perks, maps and special ammo.
