I love the idea, but the execution is bad.
Why cant it be applied to your own melee weapons too?
Make my own axe or hammer throwable. And allow me to pick up any axe or hammer on the map and use it as a main slot weapon.
So basically i can equip and throw any melee weapon in the game with it.
Would be fun and actually viable to a degree.
Just because you don't think they're useful doesn't mean it is useless. Neenoh quite often plays with tomahawk trait and gets some funny clips and moments with that trait. Sure it's not as great as having doctor or other traits, but that's the reason why it's so cheap: you can get it if you have 1 or 2 points left and it theroetically could make the difference if you throw a shovel and somebody gets hit by it.
Sure most people just run and gun, but it can be quite fun to challenge yourself sometimes to use other traits and loadouts. Dewclaw is actually pretty strong in close combat since you can one hit them with the melee animation.
Poison sense is something I usually don't know since I don't play with poison on my weapons, but I picked it up once from meathead and saw in the next compound that somebody got poisoned by a hive, so I knew people were ahead of me. Was actually quite nice, but I wouldn't pick it myself.
So you can either use the traits and play around them, or don't use them but then be silent. Because not all people share your view on these traits.
What matters is whether these perks are good enough to be picked.
I suppose Crytek have exact data on the pick rate and i would assume there are traits that are rarely picked.
Rarely means less than a fraction of a percent.
If you have a few perkpoints left, you dont pick anything.
Sure you can use stuff like Tomahawk to troll around, which i do occasionally too.
Yet that kind of means it IS useless in terms of overall comparison.
Especially the fact that you cant carry axes with you to throw makes it bad.
See, Gatorlegs also just costs 3 points but its insanely valuable.
If Tomahawk applied to equipped melee weapons, it would be cool and useful.
Still niche, but useful.
Same with certain items like the spyglass...
