most people prefer the clean, thin sights of mosin compared to the thick lebel ones
slightly higher damage but it doesn't matter much - still, it's there
it used to have much better ammo supply
most of it is due to the ammo supply - people played mosin more and will probably stick with it at this point even if the supply is the same now.
Why? well due to its fast reload. The lebels reload is horrible and just getting in a single bullet to top off takes a year.
The only thing that matters is penetration. But let's be honest, how often do you kill just because you can shoot through 2+ wooden walls with long ammo? 5% of all kills? 2%? Up to 2 walls can be penetrated by a compact ammo as well, that's enough in most cases.
Yes, Mosin is a style and cool sounding, feeling of power an so on. It is a good weapon, but the compact ammo HV is better at any range up to 120-150 meters at the current state of the game.
Lebel's upside is different sight picture (some prefer it I don't) and the ability to not have to reload as much.
It however has a longer reload over all and more ammo in a magazine usually leads to a 'forgiving' mindset which leads to firing more rounds than you should which I find myself doing every time I bring a lebel because it just has so much more damn ammo before a reload is needed.
Mosin however, reloads really fast, great sight picture and doesn't allow me to just keep firing like crazy because the reload makes me stop and collect myself.
And I'm not saying I rapidly fire, just sometimes you get a target in the open and you just keep firing as much as possible before he can get behind cover.
The berthier though allows for ONE missed shot on a target and if you get 2 arm shots it means you need to make the 3rd shot count before its reloading time.
So just overall different strokes for different folks.
Mosin just feels better overall to a lot, all three are good enough to do the same job.
EDIT: Also I am pretty sure you got more ammo back with the mosin over lebel before the ammo change happened recently.... cant remember?
krag is the best long repeater. doesnt need bullet grubber and 2-taps the fastest. the loss of breakpoints just isnt that big of a deal.
Biggest differences was the ammo resupply and Mosin's stripper clip reload. Smaller difference is the sight, where Mosin is generally preferred.
That said both guns are top tier.
Also Lebel iron sights front part is a bit too fat for my taste.
Mosin is my nr.1 rifle.
Depending on the situation i prefer sometimes the Krag cause of the even faster follow-up shot and with basicly no recoil.
And the Lebel Ironsight is way worse for higher ranges. I give u 2 Videos.
First Video is Lebel from ca. 180m.

Second Video is Mosin from ca. 250m.

Tell me, which kill was the easier one? With the Mosin u dont have a problem aiming at him. With the Lebel u don't really see them.
+1
Also, small ammo is very poor for penetration, that's why I'll take a mosin over any small ammo gun.
