Hunt: Showdown 1896

Hunt: Showdown 1896

Is it just me or are the AI overwhelming?
I get the game is suppose to be PvPvE but the amount of AI that swarm me and my friends is ridiculous. Especially when they don't load in until I've angered them. I don't want to crouch through the whole map just to avoid setting off a mob of grunts or a pack of hounds especially if I'm playing solo.

So am i just being a wuss or do the amount of AI/their aggro radius seem excessive?

*Since everyone thinks is an experience issue*
The AI are easy to kill. One hit done for most. It is the excessive amount that come after you because while there are plenty loaded in around me I have ones that don't even show up until I am 10ft from them which then ticks off the entire nearby vicinity. I'm not going to run through the whole map like an idiot because that's how you get headshot with a a Sparks from 200m away. I just want to be able to get to the boss without announcing my location to the whole map or always having a silenced weapon.

Honestly: It is just you at the moment.
Lets talk again when you have like 300 hours more in the game...
and you will change your opinion and see that AI is barely a problem.

AI is a mild annoyance for anyone somewhat experienced. Melee to the head and done.
Hardest to deal with are dogs by far. It can get a bit dangerous if you are midfight with other players and you ignore AI that is pushing you tho.

Basically just melee them in the head and you are good. Throwing knives/axes are great for efficient, silent and fast map traversal.

I want and need AI overwhelming. I hate the game being empty and having nothing to hunt.
Being forced to kill other players in order to have fun is not the way to play this game.
Having AI playing a major factor in the game and being able to use it or being damaged from it is the PART of Hunt Showdown. Sorry for being so categoric.
No it's not excessive , it's actually great, having no challenge from AI makes the game actually something worth uninstalling, and destroys the core elements of what is Hunt showdown. There are areas that are not fancied by the NPCs! you ust need to be a good hunter to go in those areas... were NPC don't like to feed because they can't find their food.

Read the monstrum books or just use your imagination, you will find a way not to be overwhelmed.

And another suggestion: go ballistic if you feel it's overwhelming, arm yourself to respond to that challenge and then I guess pay the consequences if you make too much noise .. or for too long.

Arm yourself to dominate that AI.. instead of asking devs to destroy the fun for all.
If you play solo as I like to do if not with a team mate or a random that is capable to cooperate and has a freaking mic... having ton of AI allows you to have something to shoot, something to do in the map... MAPS ARE HUGE.

Equip a silenced Nagant with poison ammo as your secondary if the AI is giving you trouble. It'll take care of almost all AI with ease.

$100 buys you a stamina shot and makes dealing with AI trivial.

It is and it isn't. It all depends and varies. Usually it isn't really, but absolutely can be as a solo with no traits, etc when getting shot at.

You're new, so it's "scary" for a few hundred hours. You can't really not set anything off, stuff is too crowded together and blocks your path, clues, etc.

As long as you're not constantly setting off crows and dog cages, I wouldn't worry too much about being super quiet, it often isn't worth the effort.

AI is totaly crap , it spawns late as hell , so you take a clue and while you take it the meathhead spawns....last time i took a clue and the AI which had to spawn at my position spawend outside the windows beside a red barrel...it exploded....GG

Go round them, why do you have to charge into them ???.

This, Silenced nagant with poison ammo is AI king. Add fanning if you want it to also be very good at boss killing too (spider being the exception)

ngl I feel like ai spawn has been upped since last time I played hell I dont remember groups of grunts being outside buildings before, I dont mind it tho there were plenty instances where ai helped me kill hunters

Once you get some experience under your belt, dealing with AI becomes trivial. You can attack much faster than you expect.

Using stamina efficient melee like knuckle knife while always aiming for the head. Use ranged options like throwing axes for hives. Stam shots just trumps everything.

If you want stupid amounts of AI then go play DMZ... it's ridiculous....
BonesawMcGraw Feb 20, 2023 @ 2:32pm
Not to be mean but this is really an experience issue. On the rare occasion you will get screwed by random AI spawns, but for the most part they are just free XP.
