Question regarding the nitros shredder and normal ammo.
So I see a lot of people at least over youtube vids bring shredder ammo and I've never understood why though? Dosin't the discription say it loses penetration power and velocity and just cause bleeding? And if so what value does that really have since it sounds like it's more likely to lose it's oneshot strength for the sake of giving someone a timer to close that huge hole you just out in them? Of course I've seen vids where it still seems to oneshot hunters but be that as it may why even bother with shredder at that point if it still is gonna oneshot them? This whole thing confuses me and makes no sense but of course that's the case coming from me since I've never and still yet to use the nitro in an active game outside of that one trial in the challenge section. The price of just one of those guns is scary to me and knowing my luck I'd probably get mugged by some other hunter dryhumping the most leaf covered bush, get looted and bye bye 1k's worth of for a kit I hardly got to use and a gun I likely didint even get a chance to shoot at someone with. Anyways throwing that aside can someone explain this concept to me as to what makes shredder so used and why? :P

And shredder for some stupid reason increases the effective one hit to the chest potential. I think it goes from 30 to 45 metres or so. So you basically gain one hit range, loose an insignificant amount of penetration and cause heavy bleeding.

I am not the most experienced with it either but it's like going with dum dum ammo in secondary or flech in shotguns, if the shot does not kill but does very heavy damage the bleed forces the other player to choose between running and healing which gives you a chance to finish them off, or fight to the death and then heal if they can. lets say you don't do a large amount of damage the bleed alone can take someone out of the fight temporarily and apply pressure to the person you just shot, in team fights that can make a big difference forcing a hunter to take cover and heal.

As you said though you do trade the penetration and velocity, the velocity can be countered by good aim and prediction though.

Edit: This is also the same reason some people run poison on weapons or incendiary, for example I use the centennial a lot I run poison rounds with it, unless the person has Mithridatist or anti poison they can't heal for about 4-6 seconds allowing me to make a move, or a follow up shot if they are in the open.

Shredder increases the one hit kill range for the nitro. It's basically an upgrade to the normal ammo as you would never rlly shoot trough more than 1 wall.

shredder increases the one shot to chest distance to 74m, so by around 30m.

shredder does not lose a lot of penetration. it can still penetrate brick walls and everything else, that's why they renamed it to shredder, as it greatly differs from dum dum ammo types in this sense.

Shredder ammo for Nitro is an exeption amidst general rule of custom ammo. it doesnt lose penetration ability and still can penetrate as normal nitro ammo - which can penetrate even brick walls. Normal Nitro ammo can OHK at 42-43 m at upper torso, Shredder ammo can OHK up to 57-58 m to upper torso. Basically its a buff to a normal nitro ammo. Devs buffed that type of Nitro ammo because in earlier variants of dum dum(w\o penetration and lesser OHK distance) there was no point to use them over normal Nitro ammo.

Perhaps you are right on this. i thought shredder improve OHK up to around 60 m. But 74 might be correct - havent tested shredder to that extent to be honest.

ah I see. I was not aware it increases oneshot range. I guess now that makes much more sense.
