don't listen to socipat, a lot of people in the community publicly use hudsight and other overlay programs, so far nobody has been banned

I did say if you are caught and yes someone has been banned. Someone posted a video of their play which showed the red dot of a monitor cross hair. He got banned.

They don't ban for it. It's generally not encouraged, but they do not ban for it.
Same with reshade.

You won't really benefit from a crosshair though honestly, after playing the game for a few hours you should have a general idea where you are aiming anyways while moving, and when walking or ADS you don't need it at all.

I doubt this.

There are streamers that use hud overlays/crosshairs, and there are video clips all over youtube and twitch of players using reshade and crosshairs and even people that send report clips of actual cheaters while using reshade and such to crytek- none of them have been banned.
It seems highly unlikely that they were like "hey **** that ONE guy in particular"

If they were banned it was more likely for something else.

it is not bannable. if someone says they got banned for using a crosshair they are most likely lying because they got banned for something much more serious.

Anyone that uses an overlay or any other program that assists you in ways that the base game doesn't, is considered cheating. Whether it's enforced or not is different, but you're still a turd if you use such things.

what's considered cheating in games is defined solely by the developers, as they are the ones who set rules for the community. In many games, using 3rd party software is allowed if it helps solve core design issues, accessibility issues or provides cool functionality that the base game does not have. For example, if my game does not have colourblind filters, why would I ban people for using reshade, even if it allows people without colourblindness make the game brighter? Both use cases are okay because they are actually very similar - in both cases the players want to be able to see what's happening in the game. Banning rehsade in this case would make a lot of people stop playing the game, resulting in potentially me, as a developer, losing a lot of money. As long as hunt showdown developers are fine with the community using particular tools, it is not considered cheating and nobody will get banned for it, and they said it multiple times that crosshair overlay and reshade are allowed.

coming from personal experience, people who think reshade is cheating are usually the ones buying the darkest skin in the game and crouching in bushes, which means they are partially the reason people started using reshade in the first place.

stop being a ♥♥♥♥ and let people play how they want as long as it does not ruin the experience for others.

They literally white listed it. The old version was actually classified as "Cheating" but reshade revamped it's program and EAC white listed basically saying it's no longer considered a cheat to them.

well it does ruin the experience of others because you negate a core part of the damn game aka spotting the enemy. Its about hunting and finding the enemy. You using reshade to turn everything bright and remove all the shadows and make the game look like CS 1.6 does indeed ruin the game for other people.
If you want a colourblind filter or some other thing to help certain people then request such a feature from the devs. This isnt a pve game or coop game so any sort of 3rd party tool is and will always be considered by a large group of people to be straight up cheats. I dont think its less cheating to remove all sort of spotting gameplay from the game or running aim bot. Same crap, different cheat.
Go play single player or coop games please.
