The ones worth noting:
FMJ (very good for compact and medium ammo) as it increases penetration and damage dropoff distance and doesn't cost high amounts of velocity in return.
HV increases velocity and does nothing else. very good.
Slugs, infamous shotgun ammo. Was nerfed recently.
Spitzer, good for long distance sniping. Not really worth on non-scoped versions due to lower damage.
Shredder. Insanely strong. If you play nitro, take this. 70+m oneshot to the torso.
Other ammo types aren't really good but just play around with it, maybe you will like some.
Yes, game is meant for duos and trios. If you want 1v1, you need to play quickplay.
Event: collect snakes, get clues, kill bosses, burn snakes at boss location, loot hunters, extract with bounty are the ways to get points. If you got spare trait points, there is a costly trait that increases point gain by 10%. If you play with certain hunters (Witch Hunter, Prescient and Night Seer) you also get an additional 10% boost.
Slugs on shotguns caaaaan be fun but they got nerfed.
Also the dragons breath is great for the memes.
Other options like fmj can help with wall penetration but I don't notice too much difference. Dum dum bleed rounds can add pressure when you attack.
For the most part just aim for the head with normal rounds and win.
