When was the last time you communicated with an enemy player through voice chat?
I was in a duo game today and I was talking through the game chat. Mostly though when no one was around us. So I know the chat is working and not disabled. In combat we didn't talk. After server wipe we did a lot of laughing though! 😂
🤠
Proximity chat is still in and should stay (and actually it should also attract zombies and taunt the bosses).
I see Proximity Chat never as a primary voice chat for tactical talk but just for trash talk and roleplaying.
Its really fun that way and actually can help you kill people (taunting and luring them, even had a random partner that was in line with my thinking using standard chat to have people think hes a solo, to then gank them in the compound from two sides).
Its more or less just a tool for alternative social tactics or mockery. Nothing else.
Which is why i wished the proxy chat received an update and impacts gameplay even more (as said triggering zombies with the noise).
Wont happen though.
I had several occasions where my voice input was noticed by the game but not transfered (the icon for voice input appears, but the guy doesnt hear me).
Mostly it does work though.
Not saying this is related to you not hearing people, as i think it is rarer to hear people anyway, just stating its not without its problems for at least 3 users i know for sure it bugs (which also sometimes is related to the hardware not being properly set up, mind).
I don’t understand why developers even bother anymore to add voice comms that have proximity in games, then balance around it. Just about everyone is just going to use Discord, or some other voice program to gain an advantage with zero draw backs the developers didn’t balance for.
Same thing with Survivors abusing voice comms in Survive with friends on Dead By Daylight.
