Mosin or Lebel for sniping?
With my 133 hours, I suppose I can still be forgiven for asking noob questions, so here goes. I can't quite decide which rifle I like more for sniping—Lebel Marksman or Mosin-Nagant M1891. Does it come down to technical details?

Lebel is cheaper by $93, does almost the same damage and sounds cooler. You'll love it. Also the Lebel bullet is 15m/s faster than the Mosin.

both are equally insane at what they do, especially with spitzer ammo.

try them out and see what youre comfortable with. that pretty much goes for all guns

Thanks, guys. I do have them both, and am trying to work out the differences. Could it be that the Mosin scope is stronger, or am I imagining that (because it looks longer)?

When talking objectively, Mosin is slightly better.
However, some people do prefer Lebel.
It's not a big difference.

edit:
basically Mosin has better resupply and sniper scope (you do see the same sector as a marksmans scope, just slightly bigger)
Lebel has slightly higher firerate
Dmg and MV differences are negligible

it is a sniper scope while lebel has a marksman scope

It is a stronger scope, there's different scope classifications in the game:

Deadeye (Low zoom), (Like Nagant Precision, Officer Carbine, Berthier, Springfield Compact, Winfield Compact, Vetterli)

Marksman (Medium Zoom), (Springfield, Winfield, Lebel, Vetterli)

Sniper (Highest Zoom), (Mosin Nagant, Sparks, Winfield Centennial)

Aperture (A metal disk with medium zoom properties, can be toggled on/off by pressing [X] (By Default), (Winfield, Lebel)

Can be affected by Steady Aim (If 3 slot) or Steady Hand (If 2 slot) or their corresponding traits

Ah, cool, good to know! Thanks for the detailed breakdown!

Maybe people do not agree, but I say start with the Sparks sniper when you want to improve. The single-shot and long reload time really forced me to develop the necessary discipline to wait and lineup the perfect shot. In return I also got also much better with mosin and lebel.

I'd agree that's good practice.

Romero talon + cadwell uppercut = ez win, Bring a stamina shot and solo the boss with melee.

The main difference are the scopes.

I prefer the Lebel to the mosin, but Berthier has the best feel plain

Lebel Marksman, because you can combine steady aim + marksman scopesmith with it to great effect. 10 laser-precision shots are hard to beat.
