How does the poison ammo on the centennial work?
I can't find any recent posts talking about it but in game the damage number doesnt decrease yet I feel when I am hitting the head close range its not a 1 hit kill? It even takes 3+ body shots to kill people sometimes which feels odd. Is that what happens when people take the antidote shot or does using poison just drastically weaken the gun?

useless ammo u should stick to normal or Fmj who are far more superior

It took me 4 hits to kill someone fairly close with poison ammo. They likely had an antidote, but still shouldn't take that many shots.

I actually love it.
Well, in trios I love it, i dont know about duos or solo.
But poison rounds will just force a hunter to go hide for a bit while their teammates still fight and it also really impacts their vision and healing ability.

I actually really enjoy it because very few people bring poison antidotes.

I can 2 shot body shot with it.... I dont know what oddity happened for you.
Were you hitting a limb? Genuine question.

antidote does not reduce the damage from poison ammo, only negates the poison status effect. Your experience is simply the result of the reduced base damage of poison ammo.

Probably. I aimed for the chest as they were running away. At that distance a winnie compact would have 2 shot them to the body.

Poison bullets are pure garbage that no one really uses it.

Medium ammo damage falls off pretty hard at longer ranges, and poison bullets make it even worse. If you look at the stats of the Centennial poison bullet, it only deals 104 damage and the headshot effective range is 118m compared to 180m for a regular bullet.

There is no reason to use poison ammo when it has FMJ rounds and if you want to inflict a status effect on an enemy hunter, use dum-dum/flechette to make them bleed (the best one) or incendiary ammo/dragon's breath (2nd best but don't expect the fire status to kill them.)

Poison is simply irredeemable in this game even if antidote shots were nerfed and there's poison sense which again, is useless. The main reason is poison doesn't inflict constant damage unlike bleeding and fire therefore, there's almost no leverage.
Poison is a great follow-up when paired with a bleed main. I like running a springfield dum dum with either a silenced nagant poison or hand crossbow poison. And I'm always running concertina/poison traps now. I'm still surprised by the amount of people not running antidotes.

Yeah, honestly MOST weapons with regular ammo tend to out perform the ammo types out right.

And to be fair, to make it so you aren't alone. I have been on a nitro bleed ammo binge -yes yes i know im terrible- because I have over 50K hunt dollars and I have hit SOOOOOO many people at 40m dead center or in the back and not out right kill them. So you aren't alone with certain things simply not working for you. :|

I tried running the nitro for fun because I have a stupid amount of money to burn, but I find the damage drop-off so ridiculous that there is simply no point to using it. You're better off with a rival and slugs.

Yeah, I have gotten most of my kills with the nitro from hipfiring as it tends to be incredibly accurate hipfiring. It is basically a much more overpriced rival with slugs.

And oddly enough I am god awful at shotguns, I dont know what it is, give me a bomblance and I can solo wipe a trio team in less than 30 seconds - not even joking - give me a crown and king or a rival with slugs and 4 shots with either.... I'll hit only limbs and not kill a single person.

Actually hilarious story, I had spectre with slugs vs a normal shell spectre.
I hit them 2 times with slugs and they hit me once and killed me from the same distance I fired my slug... Im THAT bad with them.... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I used to run with the antidote shot back in the day and it was really good. Now it doesn't reduce damage from hive swarms and the spider, so I don't use it anymore. A lot of players prefer using vitality shots or frag bombs. For me, I replaced the antidote shot with the stamina shot and I haven't used the regular antidote shot in perhaps years.

I'd rather just go for a headshot than make people bleed, burn, or get poisoned. The dumb part was when I did run with poison bullets, it either did ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ or I killed them anyway with a headshot.

I was hyped that poison sense would change things up but nope, people can just stay out of the 50 meter effective range to avoid getting tracked and again, it's better to go with better custom ammo kill than track enemy players.

To make poison better, it needs to be able to inflict constant damage the moment you get hit twice by a poison bullet or you get intense poisoning. Then perhaps it will be more justifiable to use poison ammo, and the antidote shot.
The best part of poison imo is that it takes away your ability to heal, so you're stuck bleeding until you die pretty much.

i use poison ammo very often and its like with anything else, all what makes fun get nerfed by devs

especially poison duration over distance is one of the dumbest things in this game.

i said it already 100 times here that poison needs a rework, the status effect need a rework and poison damage over a short amount of time

because they cannot balance their weapons right. the weapon balance in hunt is not in generally bad. but some weapon classes and custom ammos are really garbage and not playable

True. Alongside with poison bullets, no one uses the Nagant Precision, Nagant Deadeye, Nagant Officer Carbine Deadeye, Winfield Marksman, Winfield Musket Bayonet, and Martini Henry FMJ rounds just to name a couple.

I don't even know why we have a Winfield Musket Bayonet and Scottfield Brawler that no one asked for, and no one uses. The Scottfield Brawler sucks as it has a low rate of fire and it's terrible for dual-wielding and fanning because it's less accurate thanks to the dusters. No one will use it thanks to the Caldwell New Army revolver.
I love the martini henry with fmj. That used to be my main alongside something spammy like fanning chain pistol. Also the carbine deadeye with high velocity rounds is fun to pop heads at short/medium range and have quick 2 taps.

Antidote has nothing to do with it, it just means they don't feel the lingering poison effect and can heal as normal. You either didn't do the 4 shots in a short space of time and they healed or hit only arms and legs.

Musket bayonet is great fun when you charge a compound and stab people with it. It also does decent damage to bosses so you have a high capacity weapon with a good long melee option.
