Hunt: Showdown 1896

PC Monitor with internally configurable Red-Dot
So I just played with someone who told me that he has a Monitor which lets him place a Red-Dot overlay. I didnt know thats a thing. Is this even "legal"?

but can he adjust the red dot or is it in the center of the monitor? because you know that hunting has a view below the center

Back in the day people even used tape and marker for an aimpoint.
There is software that does this as well and tbh, there is no reason to use it in Hunt anyway as you have crosshair or ads anyway.

I feel like such a tool would get in the way more often than not, at least in this game. The crosshair is not in the usual place for an FPS game and even if it were there is no need for an overlay since the crosshair doesn't go away unless you're ADS which at that point you don't want it there in the first place. I guess it depends on what the monitor can adjust or not, just seems like a weird tool to me.

he can ajust it. so its not just in the center.

for me, i really dont care. im playing on a 45' 4k Smart TV, from the cozyness of my couch, so a tiny dot wouldnt really help.

But i find it funny, the lenghts people would go...

holy sheet, a 45 foot TV, does 4k even look good on that size?

There is nothing they can do against it. legal or not. You can put a tiny sticker on your screen as well. People did that back in the days when monitors with that function were not invented yet.

Is it even relevant to hunt? I mean the hip fire crosshair does not show you the exact center but you basically know where the center is. Also is it not a bit RNG where the weapoin actually hits? Hip fire is not 100% accurate the center of the big crosshairs right?

I guess where it comes to "cheating" it basically through the dot already knowing where your aim down "kimme und korn" (not sure what its called in english) sight will land b4 you the animation finishes.

Prob a troll, RuRed.

Obviously it cannot be detected. Plus is isn't very effective anyway since iron sights are all different heights. It would be more confusing if anything.

Iron sights of weapons are all different heights? If true I did not even know that.
Paft Apr 22, 2021 @ 4:03pm
Yes, they're of course all different shapes and sizes, but the tips indeed vary slightly in tip position. I assume each weapon has it's own bullet travel point rather than a global fixed position. I can only assume that though. That would be pretty stupid if not.

Well you just assume things. What a surprise! You just make ♥♥♥♥ up.

Let ME assume something: The iron sights are at the exact same location for every single weapon.

Now let someone who ACTUALLY knows it tell us and let us see who is right.

I'm not assuming. It depends on the weapon. It can be as little as say 2 up or down pixels? Maybe they changed something since late EA? I remember quite the difference, especially with shotguns.

See mosin vs officer.

Droopy The Dog Apr 22, 2021 @ 4:27pm
Given the ironsights focus in on the center of the hipfire crosshair and the crosshair doesn't move between weapon swaps, it's a pretty safe bet that the actual aim-point on every ironsight is the same for every gun. It's just that some ironsights are less clear to read at the tip.

Yeah, fair enough. I can't be arsed looking into it right now. But I can see a tiny difference between mosin vs officer for example.

Maybe I'm losing my marbles...I swear it used to be more night and day. Or maybe I was just thinking of the crossbow. It's late..might be having a dumb moment. As Droopy said, perhaps it is just the lack of clarity. In which case...I wasn't here.

So did he say it helps?
Is he a headshot machine?

I find it hard to imagine it would be appreciably more reliable than "standard"
