In my experience, pvp carries a great penalty to the ammount of dollars you make, unless you win the fight and loot the dead, you probably wont get anything.
I have had games where me and my squad kill 6 players, get killed and make zero dollars..
Besides bringing cheaper loadouts, there really isn't a trick to it. You just need to die less and stop recruiting new hunters and buying more gear. If your situatuon doesn't seem favorable, consider extracting early without the bounty.
There are cash registrars, and tiny money pouches that you can find that give you bonus cash, but thier placement is random.
A lot of players on the map make it difficult to just scavenge the map for cash.
When the event is over...
Play the fixed map ( not random one)
and you will find it very easy to make a lot of money. Most games on the fixed map are pretty empty. So you can get all the clues, scavenge the map for cash registers and kill the boss(s).
I usually do exactly that when I get low on funds and within a short time make a ton of money. Then I go back to random map to play.
Hope this helps.

That's probably the safest way. Just use free hunters and don't buy anything extra for them. You'll just have to be careful if you try to play on a team. Some tryhards will get salty about your poor loadout. Consider playing solo for the Free Hunter cash grinds.
Take a (large) stamina shot before doing it and outrun all angry rednecks shooting you.
Best is to go to the furthest extraction away from the fight, due to your speed advantage.
If you find the boss first, just kill it with an axe and wait inside. Check where enemy hunters are and run to an extract when the enemy's distracted (takes them roughly 30 seconds to realize you left the compound, which is enough for the extraction timer)
Otherwise:
Purely scavenging works pretty well. Avoid combat like the plague and go in with silenced weapons.
- Take clues if possible for, not only the cash, but also to identify the greyed out areas which are going to be the safest places for you to hang around in.
- Scrounge compounds for cash registers and pouches.
- In the later stage once the boss lairs have been contested and the bounty carriers are on their way out, check around the compound for bodies you can loot and potentially swap more expensive guns with.
Not true.
Go play Springfield with nagant officer
Or play romero with nagant officer.
Super cheap, super effective.
