Is the romero hatchet supposed to one shot?

I ask this because I have been using it after being one shot from it, and also tend to one shot people when very close.

Or is it that some pellets are hitting the face getting a head shot multiplier?

As far as I know the Romero Hatchet only does 85 damage (up to 10 metres) when you hit them in the chest, so I suppose the headshot multiplier must've come in play here.

The ingame menu the romero hatchet says it does 140 damage (up to 10 meters) where the Caldwell Rival compact version says it does 85 per shot

Yes, all shotguns are capable of one-shotting to the chest (indicated by the Effective Range. For shotguns this states the one-shot distance to the chest, while normally for other guns it's the headshot range). As far as I know Hatchet has the worst range of all shotguns, maybe only competing with the LeMatt,

Yes. All shotguns can one-shot to chest.

no the Romero hatchet does the EXACT same dmg as the normal Romero but have more spread. So the 85 dmg at 10 meters is to show that you properly only will hit with some pellets.
All shotguns can one shot at close range except when using meme ♥♥♥♥ ammo like dragons breath (but you only do this to meme anyways).

not really. If you hit center mass at 5 meters with any of the sawn-off romeros its a 1 hit kill.

It's not that bad of a shotgun. Don't trust the crosshairs because they're extremely deceptive, the spread is actually like 50% of what the game tells you, it's a quite accurate shotgun for what's basically a sawnoff version.

Hence the "(up to 10 metres)", as I'd say that those 10 metres aren't even the optimal range in which the sawn-off Romero should operate in.
I never denied that "All shotguns can one shot at close range except when using meme ♥♥♥♥ ammo ..." but in order to actually one shot someone, whether that's with the sawn-off variants and/or especially the LeMat Mark II, then you will definitely - again - be in that "optimal range", which sure as hell isn't 10 metres.

It does more than 85 dmg at less than 10m, and yes it can one shot hunters without headshots at -very- close range

You should learn how to quote someone correctly because I never said "up to 85 damage", nor did I say that you "must" get a headshot to one-shot someone - and that's the whole point of saying "I suppose the headshot multiplier must've come in play here".

On top of that I already stated that it's possible to one-shot someone with it (as long as you're at an optimal range for it, which isn't 10 metres but quite obviously lower).
