The bow seems to one shot the entire body above the waist except for the arms obviously.
Crossbow even if u hit the upper chest at range it wont drop someone instantly.
A crossbow that can be spanned by hands without any spanning mechanisms like winches is not going to be more powerful than a bow, simply because of the short draw length.
Any crossbow you can reset with one hand while running is not going to be much more powerful than a regular bow.
Obviously you guys are idiots... Crossbows, regardless of how you charge them are generally more powerful. Now, in hunt we have a hand drawn Crossbow, and a hunting bow. A hunting bow is made of wood, the crossbow's "bow" is metal, they are roughly the similar size in length, maybe the hunting bow is slightly longer. What makes you think WOOD throwing a light arrow is going to be better at killing than METAL throwing a heavy bolt.
A war bow, (on avg taller than a man) is WAY longer and definitely stronger than a crossbow of any kind. Hunt doesnt have this, it has a small hunting bow. It doesnt matter if its hand drawn, first of all, the crossbow in the game has extra ropes which would aide in drawing. A piece metal springing back is WAY faster than wood, and stronger.
Do some research, people on Youtube like Skalagrim, LindyBeige, and Shadiversity all make medeival weaponry videos and explain these types of weapons.
Yes, and these same people will tell you that a hand-drawn crossbow is not going to be more powerful than a wooden bow because of draw length and the little draw weight (because it is hand-drawn). Where do you think the energy comes from?

(Keep in mind he is also talking about a *windlass* crossbow)
explain physics in a game where people come back from the dead and zombies walk around
(ignoring the fact it's medium slot. Just comparing killing power)
But yeah idk OP, as a crossbow main, i dont know why the bow is literally better than the crossbow in all forms lol
"Power" will be decided by how much work you can put into bending the limbs, which is decided mainly by your manipulation of leverage (cams in bows usually, winches and more involvement of posterior chain in crossbows) rather than just, "it's a bow with a post in the middle of it."
tl;dr I think you're right that the standard crossbow ought to hurt more than the new bow, but you are sorely mistaken that crossbows in general are more deadly and in reality crossbows were only invented to man artillery without a lifetime of physical training
You are also missing draw length in your equation. The material of the bow might be lighter, but it is still drawn much further than the crossbow.
Also, the loss by using steel as the prod further reduces the potential energy. There's a reason modern compound crossbows aren't using steel - they try to put as much energy as possible into moving the bolt, not the prod. Medieval steel crossbows are highly inefficient, as shown in the video I posted above.
