Yes, there is an in-game map. Yes, solo is viable, though you will be matched against duos, as there's no solo bounty hunt mode.
Right, there is nothing more to say
Oh and once you die, you loose your hunter and their gear/perks. But only after you get to account level 10 or 11. So they are safe before that
Other than that its not that hardcore
Still scary af
Hunt have really simple inventory management and you do not need to know about ammo. Just take your favorite gun and play. But game have special weapons like crossbows or Nitro. Ammo for this weapons you can get only in purple box.
Yes. And you have dark sight, which shows where you need to go.
Solo is too hard for new players, but you can play in Quick play mode which is common BR game for solo players. And game have short PvE challenges.
It has the same core format. You equip your player with gear, take them into a free for all map, death is permanent, and you lose all the gear. There are PvE elements. That's were the similarities end.
You don't have inventory managment, you can only carry what's in your appropriate gear slots. If you find a better weapon, it replaces the weapon in that slot. Unless your purposely leave slots open, you dont really find extra "loot". But you can loot hunters for cash, and gear. To replace what you have, or consumables like grenades or health packs. You don't have a large stash you have to orginze in between matchs. Just a basic list off all your gear, which you can hold a max of 10 of every item.
They actually do plan on adding customizable ammo types in the future, but nothing like tarkov. Right now there are 3 main types, and they are locked to specific weapons.
You can very much enjoy the game solo, it's the only way I play. There are also teams of 2s and 3s, but you can opt out of 3s match making. The fast TTK, and stealthy nature of the game, means it never feels hopeless when out numbers. Plus solo players get extra rewards for extracting with the bounty.
There is an in game map that shows extraction points.
Overall, much less hardcore than Tarkov, but is more fun in my opinion. The PvE aspects have a better feel and immersion than those robotic like SCAVs.
That's what hardcore used to mean. Unforgiving and perma-death
Some on the form equate hardcore to "complexity", or "gameplay that appeals to me.
Tarkov is more unforgiving in that gear is even more important and creates a larger power diversity. Losing a decked out character is way more punishing than losing one in Hunt.
