I have 250$ studio headphones and pretty much amazing gear for getting the best possible sound out of games and music. Have 0 issues with anything, expect Hunt and maybe CoD Warzone (which has serious footsteps issues and lot of people hate that, but again, it's a game on a much bigger scale with 150ppl in)
Hunt can't seem to produce more then 2-3 sounds at same time, and often some of that sound gets cutted out or lowered to extremely low levels. Also, since many of the things inside the map are server sided, and Hunt server are one of the poorest one I have played on since, damn, 2000's?, sound just gets cutted out, lowered, delayed etc. Esp. with birds, dogs..
Damn, also that bug where you burn dogs in cage and they keep barking for like 15 more seconds, lel, and they even said they fixed it.
Either way, use stereo for Hunt, but don't be suprised if you find yourself in situtation where you didn't hear a thing. Your teammate footsteps are louder then enemies, take that in mind also, lol.
I also noticed that my team mates footsteps are way louder and as you say but not as loud as my own. Either sounds get clipped or my own footsteps drown out everything else i can't say. Shame there is no mod if the devs aren't going to attend to this issue soon.
On the flip side, in outdoors areas I can hear people coming and running around inside buildings with pinpoint accuracy. It's quite odd.
Edit - Should also clarify that I don't exactly have the best hearing either.
Yes, if you're in Win 10 go to the Sound settings screen and on the right click Sound Control Panel. Once you're in there right click your headphones, "configure speakers", and make sure stereo is selected.
You can also click properties and make sure no spatial sound settings are enabled, but AFAIK they only work when surround is picked in games and maybe movies, not stereo. You could also play with this setting and see if it helps Hunt, I am considering giving it a shot.*
*Didn't seem to have any effect for me. Not able to select 7.1 in Hunt anyway, or whether it does it automatically, so who knows.
Since the purchase the sounds in Hunt are much clearer and crisp. I hear everything. Much more than the Corsair's. A lot has to do with the headphones for sure.
I know that Hunt Showdown is set for stereo but I experimented with the surround sound too. In windows 10, I made the HydroX my default sound and in the game settings I have those options both set ( sound and voice) set to my headphones.
I also have a software program that has an equalizer. There are a lot of those available. Mine has a setting ( it came with my Corsair headphones, this software) for FPS games. That setting and a little tweaking with the equalizer the sounds in Hunt are awesome.
So, if the headphones are decent I would make sure in windows 10 that the default is your headphones, make sure it's set up the same in the audio settings in the game and download a good software program that has an equalizer.
I am able to pinpoint players sounds, rifles/pistol shots, grunts, dogs and all other sounds with such accuracy it is unbelievable.
I hope this helps.
🤠
Forgot to mention: all this in surround sound. With surround on I can accurately pinpoint runners and shots way better than stereo. It's the equalizer that made such a big difference.
Cheers

Seriously, this is beyond irritating. For a game that has you rely so much on audio cues, it's becoming increasingly difficult to actually gauge how far someone is away now. In addition, when I melee a grunt or trigger an audio cue within a meter of me, it is SUPER loud. Like, it hurts my eardrums. The worst is the hive screaming in my ear. But if I lower the master volume any lower, I won't be able to hear anything in the distance. Is this the same for you?
