VSR or DSR (nvidia) takes a slight performance hit over native same resolution. But something to try before getting a new monitor and see if it does it for you.
some have experienced issues with having gysync enabled
If that is too pricey however then I would say Refresh rate first, then Screen size, and then Resolution. I wouldn't go for a 1080p monitor over 27 inch though, so if you want a really large screen you really will have to go for 1440p.
As for g-sync, its hard for me to say, I had a monitor very similar to your current one before I got the Dell and going from 60hz to 144hz g-sync enabled was such a massive difference I can't tell you if its just the increased hz or if g-sync really is working magic. I will play a few rounds with it off maybe, and update if I can tell a difference, I tend to get 90fps on average in hunt with my settings so I can't see it making that much difference.
Edit: After running with G-sync off for a round I can tell the game feels slightly smoother with G-sync on but honestly I would make it the lowest priority, if you find a good monitor with in budget that has it, great, if not I wouldn't worry about it.
with me gsync really helped with ghosting and screen tearing big time. i didnt realise how bad i was having it until i had it enabled. also i personally would recommend 144 refresh rate. i think you will feel the difference more than the higher rez
60Hz is garbage that's for sure.
It's still worth investing in a 1440p for the long run but it's a tough call because going from 1080p to 1440p feels like a upgrade/downgrade. Nicer image but the performance hit will feel bigger the weaker the card because of course that means the lower the max frames will be.
Buy a used display 144hz+. 1080p or 1440p is your call since you're on a budget. But again its a toughy because Hunt is the only game I know looks bad at 1080p and that ideally you need to use DSR @ 1440p on a 1080p display.
Again depending on the budget you need to decide if the extra money is worth G-Sync. A cheaper option is a Freesync compatible model. If you have bad tearing and it bothers you sure, go G-sync/Freesync. Most 144Hz+ monitors are anyway.
You need to provide your budget.
Going for 1440p is nice, but that will leave a big performance impact. I am aiming for a constant 72hz on my FreeSync Monitor with a 1060 6GB OC. And i have to put lightning on Low and Object Detail to Medium for the game to perform well, everything else is on High.
At 1080p on the lowest settings, you might get around 110 frames per second.
I wouldn't bother with a new monitor at the moment.
I bought a 27' Curved Samsung 1080p, 4MS, and the DPI is REALLY good, as is image quality, and it has FreeSync. Every Nvidia GPU now works with almost every FreeSync Monitor. So there is no need to buy a G-Sync one unless you are really going on a spending spree and buying a new GPU with it.
TLDR: Keep the current monitor or upgrade to a bigger one with the same resolution/more HZ if you plan on using your 1060 6GB. Anything past 27' looks ugly at 1080p, but at 27' it looks super sharp and clear. More HZ is almost always better than Resolution.
I have a friend who has a 32' 1080p, and the DPI is horrible, he says he likes the softer look but nah bruh, it looks really lame.
