They are meant to pick a random nearby target when aggoed, all of them. That way if you are at long range you can use the AI as a weapon against other players by aggroing them and causing them to attack the other person. Also meatheads aren't broken with aggroing, they can respond the the squeals their leeches make even if you don't get poisoned intentionally and are just easier to shake then, and they have a very close proximity aggro for if you get within a few feet of them, that too isn't a bug. The only bug meatheads have is getting stuck in place when taken out of their navigational routes.
If you are closer to the AI and are easier to spot than the other player they will be more likely to aggro on you, there's nothing cheap about this. It allows for more strategic play if you learn to use it to your advantage and also prevent it from happening to yourself. It's a good mechanic and has it's place in this game. If you hate it you'll just have to live with it but it's a lot more fun if you learn to use it to your advantage.
The devs have admitted to knowing about how AI detect you too easily through walls and they are trying to fix that. I believe in the last update they mentioned it but I don't know if it was a known bug or they tried to fix it. In my experience they don't detect you through walls so easily consistently though, it's still a rare occasion.
A: The game is not meant to be a PvE game. The AI, be it the grunts or bosses, are only there to trigger sounds and get players to interact with each other.
B: If you die to the AI, especially in fights you did not pay attention to the situation and your surroundings. Next time don't fight near immolators or other AI or at least be aware of it - you might even use it to your advantage if you are skilled enough.
C: Two shots kill an immolator. Or a few hits with the brace knuckles... or a choke bomb... not that big of a deal.
Then try again.
+1 This
The AI should be made more dangerous.

What are you talking about? Everything is fine with AI. The main enemy here is people. This is not a single player game.

This is AI is bad more than happy to admit that. but thats also the community fault.
There was a time when hounds were feared! when messing with a hive could mean death. there was a time when being loud meant the ai may kill you and if not the players would. but then people ♥♥♥♥♥ that they could not run around the map shooting like crazy and the devs made ai too easy now
