Think about it: if what they say is true, that the server is above all doubt the only calculator of damage, then why ever would one person not show damage taken? Especially when everyone else in that match shows damage.
The truth is this, there is definitely a way to nullify damage. Multiple people have run into these situations (including myself). How it is done is obviously a mystery, but I would highly guess that it has to do with intercepting packets to the server.
PS: these ESP cheat videos that have been floating around from time to time, show HP of players and AI. Thus, there is definitely communication of damage values between the client and the server (and not ONLY on the server side). And if that is the case, then these values can be manipulated, one way or the other. Don't be naive.
So if a shooter gets a hitmarker on you, then there is only communication from the shooter to the server, the server calculates the new health and sends this to the hit person.
I doubt there are hacks that can manipulate the communication between the server and someone else (the shooter in that example).
Also the killcam is definitely bugged. When I watch my friend, who is a great shooter, a lot of the times the killcam shows him shooting somewhere but not at the targets. WAY too high or next to them. While my friend assures me via voice chat that he is aiming properly. That tells me everything I need to know about the accuracy of the killcam.
If it is true that the spectate view is broken, then Crytek needs to pull finger and fix it, or remove it.
