Does anybody actually play the missions?

Another basic curiosity. My friend and I tried this game tonight for essentially the first time together. We played about 6 or 7 rounds, and each of them went as follows.

1. Spawn, get bearings, head out to nearest clue.
   
2. Maybe kill a couple low-level enemies on the way.
   
3. BAM! BAM! We're both dead from head shots from hundreds of meters.
   
4. Game over, lather, rinse, repeat pointlessly.

Not much fun when newbies have essentially zero chance of doing anything useful before dying. Does anybody actually play the missions, or is it non-stop PvP? And is there any way to avoid the PvP until you at least figure out the basic game? Thanks in advance.

I agree with this DiskTheFlag guy. Newbies have a chance. I'm relatively new and I don't have much problem killing guys. The hitboxes are huge.

I get so tired of reading all the whining, its a hard unforgiving PVP game it doesnt have a target audience for care bears. Most good players do the objective it just feels like they dont to new players because we will always detour to kill some loud ass mofo. If you take a bunch of traps getting lair first can be very advantageous as it pits the server against itself outside your trapped up doors. Game takes time which is why its so rewarding when you become decent. Also, I kill people with the winfield so no gear isnt absolutely the end all be all in Hunt. It helps but you can always kill with a headshot. I just prestiged again and without traps I legit down the boss and leave if its early as I dont have ways to secure the bounty. However if im late to the party and the whole server is practically dead its fine.

Yea, but it's not battle royal, don't know where you get that from. The game have a MM that works quaite well, at least on more populated servers, so it's very unlikely that new players are matched against 50 prestige players. And even if so, there is now way to tell, you can only see hunter lvl which tels you absolutely nothing.

It is a battleroyal at its core. Pve aspect is just a timer and place to gather camper for a big fight. Pretending that this game is not purely about pvp is a dellusion.

My trio played 6 games tonight.. ONCE we fought another team within the first 5 minutes all the other games were campy, late game strategies after either we killed the boss or another team did.. There was one game where we literally heard nothing all game (one boss) ended up meeting two other teams at Alice Farms had a huge shootout and just as we thought everyone was dead.. the 4th team showed up and wiped us out lol.. I feel like there are plenty of times I am not using my gun and I am able to go after clues and kill bosses. Sounds like bad luck.. also are you being quiet? or are you setting off crows, immolators, hives and everything else because my Trio pushes all shots and noises.

Hey don't know who might be interested in this but if you're looking for a game like Hunt but more emphasis on PvE give a try to The Cycle

[XIII - The Death]

The PVE is only interesting because the PVP is a layer involved. Otherwise the PVE is very stale and easy to deal with.

If you're getting domed constantly as you "learn the game", then you're clearly being too loud, or traveling very obvious choke points/areas of interest, and probably going there "on time". People get a feel for when other teams should be somewhere if they are moving with average speed. Explore how you travel and kill stuff, and noise levels.
