Lets change torching downed players.
Currently to fully kill another player you have to down them several times or torch their body with a lantern, in my opinion torching dead players is over powered and the only counter play is to let them die or kill the hunters who are watching over the burning body.

My suggestion is to change this mechanic for a bleeding method which requires the player to have a knife equipped, in order to finish off a downed hunter you must go over to the body with your knife equipped crouch next to it and use a heavy knife attack which would cause an impale animation which would causes the player to slowly start bleeding, this would introduce more counter play because currently burning bodies can be done from far away which is a bit cheesy, in order to save the impaled team mate the knife would need to be removed.

Now since knives can be impaled into players this would mean that hunters will need to be able to carry multiple knives if they don’t intend on being knifeless for the rest of a match as such their cost would be reduced and their damage output also this would make them more of a niche tool and make other melee weapons such as the machete and axe more desirable for melee engagements.

Torching allows 2 players in a defensive position to force 1 of the attackers to make a move in case he/she is stalling, in order to break the stalemate.

At the same time, it also gives the attacker a time window in which he can attempt to save his currently burning colleague while having to deal with 2 defending hunters, which is a position he or his teammate lead themselves to.

This gives both sides a reasonable amount of time to make a move, and whatever is the outcome I believe it to be a product of good/poor decisions by each individual.

I see no use in what you proposed, given you're putting the defending team in the same disadvantage that the attacker has to go through when he has to sit still through the revival animation.

With the latter in mind, this is an encounter that relies on strategy. If you're in the lead, the game musn't force you to make the next move in order to consolidate that advantage. It falls on the player who lost a teammate to turn the tide, and to force balance in that situation would be unfair to the winners and meaningless to the losers.

And ? what do you want ? A way to revive your mate without fighting ? Your mate is dead if you want to save him you have to fight.

this makes no sense at all. of course if you get yourself killed there are consequences, you cant expect the game to be in your favor after failing just because you dont like the stress of having to choose between running into a battle or taking your time at the expense of your teammate's healthbar

imo it's a fine mechanic. Be glad there's a second chance at all!

The mechanic allows different strategies and should be left untouched. You know you can burn hunters too? You just have to be the standing one and not the one in dirt.

Btw. a knife? Fire isn't enough but a knife will do? Or shall we start talking about how dead your hunter shound already be with bullet in the brain or a shotgun to the face?

Let's be honest here, this thread is (like many others before) just about 2nd, 3rd etc. chances for an already lost game. Then the opposite would be, i guess, learning how to gracefully lose and take another chance next time.

Or you could, you know, get good and kill them both. Maybe kill just one of them and get enough time to heal your mate.

Why is this a thing ?
