Casualty replenishment stacking or not?

Lord has 20%, Hero gives 8% Postbattle effect 8%.

Would it be 20% or 36%? Interface is not clear about it.

They stack, up to (I think) 50%

Yeah they stack but only to a certain point. I think it is also influenced by difficulty, and the AI ignores the limit which is why sometimes they can replenish an entire stack at once.

Multiple heroes with the casualty replenishment effect won't stack, it will take the most recently updated one (I.E. embedded last or invested skill points into replenishment last).

It’s nice to get 50%, but only one hero can boost it at a time, the most recent hero to join the army applies their buff.
