You quickly cut down on all corruption spawning buildings but you still would need your own corruption (untainted) to gradually remove it.
You also will never get a province to no corruption spawning effects, every region, razed or not, has its own local populace corruption effect which stays forever (1 for each region).
Your strategy will remove the spread of corruption to adjacent regions though (osmosis) but still it will not quickly remove corruption levels, those still need untainted spread and it's usually faster taking those settlements and build dedicated buildings that spread your corruption
