Optimization of WH2.
Hey,

Will ever the optimization of this game get better?
Also, do you have any tips that could get me a few extra frames per second without losing the graphics quality that much?

If you play large battles and you like to zoom into fights, set unit details to low.

It's the most demanding option in the game (above anything else) along with extreme shadows.

Well, set the AA to 8x instead of 16x still looks pretty and helps reduce demand as much. Shadows can be reduced to Medium without you really noticing a quality difference unless you're super zoomed in.

Naturally, use a good SSD.

This campaign camera mod turned my stutter into butter.

Well, to be honest, the game is already more optimized than it was on release, but it's still pretty demanding.

You can do the usual stuff, lower shadows to medium, water effects to low, set AA to 1x or turn it off, use trilinear texure filtering instead of anisotropic, and turning off image sharpening. Most of these things don't make much of a difference to quality imo. Also, turning off SSAO will help a lot.

Turning on AA through your graphics card instead of ingame *might* get you a few more frames.

Turning off blood effects will get you more frames.

You didn't post your specs, but having 16gb of ram really helps this game, even though it says only 8gb. Also, the recommend specs are kind of weak.

I turned down my shadows to medium and AA to 8x. Game is quite okay now, can run it somewhat smoothly at 3-5k skaven battles, so that's good. Thanks for ♥♥♥♥, guys, but I'd still like to hear more tips! :)
