The Empire, why do people like em so much?

okay so I never was a HUGE fan of the empire (And personally I despise em) But I wanted to know why people seem to always play em to no end. Like, do you guys and gals do it for the memes, or is there something else?

Empire are basically the entire backbone of Warhammer Fantasy. Yes you have all these fantastical and varied factions but they wouldn't be as good if you didn't have the poor sods of the Empire trying to hold them off with halberds and silly hats.

It's like LoTR. Imagine LoTR but instead of men and hobbits it's Stormcast Eternals. Some people would like that, but they'd be wrong. :^)

empire and bretonnia is all I play. their start position, roster, and lore appeals to me the most.

It is best from my least liked faction to play. There are reasons for liking them, be it for their roster , rich magic options, race mechanics, position. Their artillery and overall end game variability appeals me more than high elves. Hated them AI controlled for their exaggerated confederation, auto-resolve broken destroying any other AI on a path resulting in a need to fight them every ****** game. So guilt was also on a part of weak norsca,vampires etc. + order alliances. This don't seem to be so regular anymore.

I rate bretonia for most boring, naive ugly bad faction to play and when I finally give them a go after long time, I usually make it just into 30th turn before quitting, angry that I lost a time I could spend anywhere else.

I like their presence in a game thought. Even if they can be pretty annoying for early norsca game, it is rather satisfying to killing them.

I think the main reason I keep going back to Empire is their variety and flexibility. I can build all kinds of armies tailored to different threats, which is good because they've got a very wide range of potential enemies in close proximity.

Also, I really like handgunners and artillery as the Empire.
