Similarly, there are countless tutorials on Youtube, and just about everything in the game has a tooltip explaining what it does.
You don't need an encyclopedic knowledge of every mechanic to have a good time, stick the game on an easier difficulty and you'll not be heavily punished for any mistakes. Just getting to grips with the basics (which are the same regardless of race) will be enough to get through a campaign. Over time you'll pick up a more advanced understanding and I'd encourage you to experiment.
Also, Don't worry about the Vortex Race initially, it'll seem the AI is racing ahead of you in the early game but that doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong, it's just programmed that way and you'll catch up in the mid-game.
Overall, the game may seem intimidating for a new player, but the turn based campaign is far simpler than other turn based grand strategy games and it's RTS battles are simpler than other RTS games. It's probably the most accessible Total War game too.. It's worth the time to learn the basics, it won't be the huge time investment it may appear to be at the moment
No. The vortex campaign is probably the most inaccessible ways to get into Total War. It is like a scenario designed for veteran players who want something more challenging, harder, and with strange factions that play nothing like the simple humans.
Compared to CK2, EU4, Stellaris or HoI3 that I played, playing TW engine is a peace of cake.
But sure, if u never played any TW, WH2 with all different factions and game mechanics independent from each other’s in comparison, it can take a moment to manage...
In this case, YouTube is your friend.
the WH encyclopaedia can be a bit rough to learn in comparison.
probably better to check guides and stuffs made by vets of the game on utube.
But trust me, there are far worse in here !
WH2 isn’t that hard, u just need some practice (50 to 100h maybe ? depending on each persons, some learn faster than others).
Usually strategy games are less noob-friendly than others types of games, but TW is definitely not the hardest to get in.
Concerning Vortex specially, nothing forced you to focus on missions proposed by the lore/script.
First u can just play to build an empire, try to expand, etc.
Without trying to add more pressures on u by completing scripted specific tasks wich aren’t made to make the game easier or to add some learning curve process to teach u the game.
At the contrary,
Vortex scripts are a difficulty more added to the game bases, where first mission is to survive and expand before anything else, but nothing forces you to care about scripted missions in first campaigns you start.
So, don’t care about it, at least for now.
