Possibly how to download free DLC

Ok so after buying the game and struggling to understand the process to get the free DLC I figured I'd make a post explaining a bit of the process or at least what worked for me.

So.. You download/install the game. You start it (The Total War launcher starts). You get into the game and see the downloadable content. You try to download the content but it has you create an account if you don't already have one. Cool. You create your account or simply login and try it again but it still doesn't work. Cooler.

1. Close the game
2. Restart Steam
3. Go to WH2 in the store page
4. View DLC
5. Click on the first free DLC
6. Click "Download" (Here's where it gets weird) It's going to seem as if it's just launching the Total War game launcher but if you look at the opening file it's going to say something like, "Total War Warhammer II: (Insert Whatever DLC you downloaded)"
7. Close the game launcher
8. Restart Steam (Restarting Steam may be optional from here forward but it worked for me)
9. Repeat steps 3-8 for the remaining DLC

Now if you go to your Library and click on WH2 it'll show you newly acquired DLC or scroll down and on the right under trading cards you can view/manage your DLC. If you're wondering why Mortal Empires isn't working you have to own WH1. If you do own it I can't help you :(. If you're wondering why you can't get Regiments of Renown (which seems to only be available in game) you have to own Mortal Empires/WH1. Again, if you do I can't help you :(.

Hope this helps and if anyone has other ways that are easier or other info please comment.

is this process fairly instantaneous or o you need to wait during any of the steps?

This only worked for Mortal Empires for me.

I'm assuming because I already own the first game. Otherwise it looks like you need a non-comp license to download the free dlc.. which is a shame.. I wanted to try out the Bretonians in the desert.

Same. The announcement post specifically says all of the free DLCs will be playable during free weekend. I was already planning to buy it during the sale but would like to know if I will actually be able to get the free DLCs if I buy the game.

Here is the quote from the official post:

"What about Total War: WARHAMMER II free-LC?
All Total War: WARHAMMER II free-LC can be played during the free weekend, but you’ll need to download these separately."

Doing what I did from launching the game, creating an account, and following the steps listed exactly it was there as soon as I restarted Steam. However it didn't display in the WH2 store that I had the DLC in my library. I had to actually view my DLC to see if they were there.

Yeah I mean it could be different because I don't own the first game or created an account for the first time idk. It was a really weird ridiculous way to get the free DLC. I was just hoping I would be able to help others out after I struggled for about an hour.

They patched something on their server side last night that made all the free DLC accessible .. no need to add anything to your steam account.
