Build a pc for Total War
Fairly straightforward, I have started looking into building a pc for games and Strategy in particular. I'm not sure where to start or end. Advice would be nice both in absolute best and with a mind for money.

How much money is available helps in knowing what can and cant be suggested. 500€ has other options than 2000€

If you do a lot of gaming, get at least a 500gb SSD. If you just need it for Warhammer, you could get away with a 250gb. They install in standard SATA slot for HDD. If you need a lot of space, getting 250 SSD with a secondary 1TB HDD could be a good solution. Just run Warhammer and windows on the SSD.
1660 super looks like a good budget GPU. It's comparable to an nvidia 980.
16gb ram is minimum I'd recommend these days. If you're building with an AMD processor, I've read they need the ram to function at 3200mhz for optimal performance.
I terms of processor, I'd go for the i5 9400 or 9600, but if you can get it significantly cheaper, the rizen 3600 seems like a good mid-range processor. The reason for me is the i5 costs the same as the ryzen where I live, but I know in the states you can get the ryzen for much cheaper. They're pretty comparable chips, but the intel is slightly better. You'll have to look up the mother boards for each.

Anyway, that's not a full build, but just some starting suggestions.

I´d personally recommend investing into an intel processor since their single-core-performance is naturally higher than that of an equivalent ryzen processor from AMD and since many games which heavily rely on CPU usage (such as the Total War games) are always better optimized for intel cores (speaking of the i-generation, don´t know the exct term for it rn) which makes them superior in performance when it comes to gaming.

However, in the place where I live, Intel cores are actually super expensive while the Ryzen models are quite cheap to get, that´s why I bought a Ryzen processor (Ryzen 5 2600). It´s really good at rendering and sufficient for normal gaming usage, but when it comes to those CPU relying games, it´s a bit of a letdown, that´s why I prefer an Intel core over an AMD one.

And I highly recommend using a 500GB SSD, not only does it makes your OS run far smoother and snappier, but it also dramatically lowers the time you´ll spend waiting in loading screens in TWWH2 and other modern games ad well (it was a really significant change for me, from multiple minutes to a couple of seconds loading time before and after each battle).

For a graphics card, I´d buy a mid range card with enough VRAM (total war games and other RTS really NEED it) ==> GTX 1060 6gb, maybe RX 580 8gb, what say the others?

Thank you very much for the replies. I wasn't sure where to start. I've read a few forums about this as well. Now I should be able to play with good graphics.

Do you want to play 1080p, 2k or 4k and what is your budget?

Some good advice on here but it would be even better if we knew your budget and what you were aiming for, eg: 1080p at 60fps

If he/she demands advice with a "mind on money" then he/she will surely aim for a 1080p 60fps setup (which is gaming standard) i believe since any other setup requests better and even more expensive hardware. This is what my advice aimed for and what i would also recommend to go for on a budget setup.
