2 player limit on multiplayer campaign
why is it limited to two players only? I don't get it. the campaign mode should support more players, like at least four. c'mon CA :AngrySword:

Because as it works currently, that would mean one person sits and does literally nothing for about two hours while the other two people play their turn, or even longer if there's four people and cross-player scenarios.

but still I feel like it should be an option. and you could always set a turn timer to make players act quickly

Oh yea, options I can support.

I can just imagine the mongs complaining about it though...

If they were to support it, how hard can it be to scale it to 4, there would be people unrightfully complaining about how long it takes to do a turn in 4 player campaign.

Fun in theory. I guarantee you it'd no longer be fun after siege battles that last up to half an hour, on top of each player turn taking 5 minutes in micromanagement of their empire, the load times every time there's a battle. All of those things even directly unrelated to you as the third or fourth player.

What could be acceptable is if multiple players could control the same faction, with a "leader" giving out units. Similarly to how it works in co-op.

You've got some good points, but I still think that it should be an option to have more players in the campaign. Primarily because of friends that want to play together, and yes it would take a lot of time to go through battles, loading screens, and managing your provinces and such. Yet I don't think friends are going to complain about that sort of stuff because this should be expected. It's like a tabletop game, you have to be patient and wait for your turn.

This is probably not going to work with random players and that I can understand, but I just want to play the campaign with friends, and as it currently is, it's kind of preventing that. Might just be me, but I have no trouble waiting for my friends to finish their turn. Again, I think it should be optional, because there are those who want to go through campaigns faster/normally, and those who are willing to have a much slower experience but with more friends to make up for that.

Yeah each time people mention waiting time I just think back about all the games I played of Heroes might and magic 3 and 5 with friends... turn based.... can't share control during fights to make it more fun to wait... and was 8 seats for 8 H&H 3 and 6 seats for H&H 5.

*Edit most of the games were 3-4 players not 8 or 6 tho*

mean if you can take your turn during the wait as in you click where you want ♥♥♥♥ to go and or buy it auto does it for you when its your turn, obvi if there ends up being a conflict it shall tell you though it'll sure speed things up on the whole

And I have a hard enough time just getting one more person to play with.

Having 3 or up to 4-player cooperative campaign play is something my group hopes to see in a Warhammer 2 patch/DLC, or in #3.

A DLC that adds 4-player co-op?

Unless they change it so turns are actually concurrent, not consective, that would be a truly terrible DLC.

Honestly I would totally be in full support of a 3+ player campaign options. As others have said, sure there is the issues of micromanaging turns and such, but really at the end of the day you are not going to be doing campaigns with strangers. It would be with a group of friends. Older total war titles had hotseat camapigns as well which could have all playable factions being controled by humans, but that was limited to being autoresolve only and having to send the save file to the next person in line.

With the advancement in online tech we have, I would love to finally have a proper multiplayer campaign to run with my friends and the insanity that would bring.

Edit: And for those saying it would take too long to be fun, thats why you play with friends. And have a few other things going as well. Like right now I have 2 seperate camapigns running with friends, and that in itself gets annoying since we all want to play together. We can't even do free for all battles as we would need a 4th before the game even lets us do it. Having discussed it with my group, we are fine waiting on turns of friends, espescally because once stuff gets going turns go fairly quickly.

No use, it's already slow enough to play with 1 friend.
TVMAN Feb 18, 2019 @ 6:44am
It would only work if the players could take their turns simultaneously.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

that could work for me however then it would be a bit iffy when you about to attack an army and they just vanish from sight like Civ 5
