Waaagh! Not sure if, or why, question on targeting...
I'm playing the Greenskins for the first time.. I like the idea of the Waaagh!.. Unfortunatly I struggle with one element of how they work.. I find it frustrating that if you send them to attack a settlement, on their own, they auto take it.. You have no sack, raze, or any other option.. They just take the settlement.. Am I missing something? Is there a way to tell them what to do after attacking the settlement or is this just what they do?

I have figured out how to stop this by making sure my parent, or another user controlled, army sieges the settlement before the Waaagh! arrives, or by making sure I'm in position to attack first with the Waaagh! in reinforce range.. If done either way you can attack first with your user controlled army, and the game then gives you the pop up option asking what you would like to do.. You then have to remember to take the Waagh! target off the settlement if you do not wish to control it.. If you do not do this they will take it on end turn..

If I am missing something that lets you tell the Waaagh! how to deal with a settlement after attacking it please let me know.. If the answer is no, that's all they do, then I ask why? Why does the game not give you the normal choices it would give if you hit with a user controlled army?

I'm not game bashing here.. I love the game, fanatic about it.. I'm just curious what the reasoning is..

Cheers and happy hunting

They are green they are only after using you to get more teeth and shiny things. I just let the Waaaagh army follow me they join in with sieges.

So what you are saying is no, you can't give them specifics on what to do after hitting a settlement.. Roger that.. Any one have any idea on the dev's design reasoning behind this?

Let the waagh follow you. Get within range of the settelment with the waagh close by and besiege. Waaghs have garbage auto resolve they will lose on their own even if they vastly outnumber their attacker. From my understanding in lore if Greenskins do well in war more greenskins from different tribes will join up with the main guy still calling the shots. United the waagh is strong. Divided and a waagh will fail. That's from my limited lore understanding at least.
Lore Wise:
"The word "Waaagh!" is a guttural slang for the word "War!", a powerful word that always has the potential to unite the warring tribes of Greenskin into the destructive force it has been famously known for. In a much more logical sense, a Waaagh! is akin to a massive migratory invasion."

Also in Warhammer 40k, the Waaagh is even more Devastating and impossible to stop but the Imperium of Man won at the greatest loss that it doesn't seem like victory.

Ok thanks.. But I wasn't asking for how to play as the Greenskins, I'm doing just fine.. As stated in paragraph 2 of my post, I know how to use them now.. It was just a surprise, early in the game, that you were not given a choice as to what to do when hitting a settlement with the Waaagh! After quickly finding that out, no more then 10 turns, I just restarted and all is good.. All I want to know is why you are not given the normal settlement options if a Waaagh! hits and wins it on its own? Is it a balance thing for multiplay? Or is it just a handcuff to prevent steamrolling? I'm just curious as to why you are not given the choices..

Cheers and happy hunting...

well the waaar is orks from other tribes flocking to your lord because he is strong and will give them a good fight. it makes seance they would fight along side your lord rather then do there own thing. i think they just gave them the ability to attack inderpendantly so you can use them as the main meat shield.
