My Khatep strategy in Vortex (ME start is too messy). Turn 1
1. Kick out your starting liche priest.
2. Buy two new ones with level 4. Options:
a) give 1 point to reduce corruption
b) give both 3 point in jar hording
C) just go the spell line
3) Set Ketheps army in ambush stance directly before the island. DE Lord will stupidly run in your ambush and your Hiertan will kill them all.
Turn 2 and follwing;
4) Use local AND global recruitment in "entobed beneath the sands" stance
5) Wait for the arrival of the Stone Tribe Beastmen. and beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of them
6) If the hero event fires chose necrotect. Use him to increase movement and as anti-infantry melee
7) Get your selft a builder necrotect with the ritual. Send him to the razed city in the north.
8) take the southern city from DE.
After that there will some goblin rouge army annoy you.
After that you can go 3 routes:
1. North and search and settle ruins
2 South kill of DE and wait expand in the jungle.
3. Go diretcly to morathis HQ and get you first book and a great city.
At start you can hire 4 archers. Use Bleak holds city as sack city first 6 turns if Heralds didnt raze or capture this city. If you are unlucky just chill, hire spearmans and kick useless dead birds, they are trash. Destroy barracks when archers will be recruited to save some money.
Always check corruption on cities around you, This is a beastmans marker, default corruption value per one character is 4. Except taurox there is only one painful bm tribe to deal with, you started at war with them. Best way to kill this tribe is ambush to lure them on your unwalled tier 2 city.
Summary there should be 4 bm tribes - taurox, one enemy spawn at game start on top, one small neutral spawn on bottom and one neutral big spawn with cygors on turn 10-14 at your capital.
On turn 6 choose necrotec and embed into army.
You need 9k gold to summon casket and rite for instant t3 settlement. After that dont worry about second settlements, its useless until you can expand.
I can recommend don't expand and sack greenskins and DE cities until turn 30-40. Growth when you play TK are pain in ass, ai have a boost to growth, so, on turn 70-80 you can easy capture t4 settlement instead useless t3. Also 14 level of second army matter because of necrosphinx for lords and chariots for heroes.
Also dont spend gold on ushtabi ushebti eshtubi building, this unit completely useless. Build chariots instead, melee chariots better then any other low tier units, also there is good trait on tomb priences for them + lord + 2 techs + banner.
Knowledgable\treachorous(tomb scorpions are the best TK unit) lich priests or ambush boost, I didnt like wise and other, they all are useless crap. Ambush chance can be really helpful when Malekit declare war on you.
With cascet, chariots and lords on sphinxes you can not only autoresolve most battles, but play them manually with comfort.
