This is a smart approach, hence it is not being applied. Smart was forbidden back in 2010 or even earlier.
How do you delete the patch files. Are they in users /application data or in program files. Please elaborate a bit on the folder and path.
or Steamlibrary/Steamapps/.....
if installed on a different drive.
I have almost 3000 hours in Rome 2, and a few thousand hours in the other tw games and it wasn't like this, for the few mb patches wasn't need it to redownload the entire game, but now this process is completely retarded. First will download 10gb, then will patch the entire 80 gb by rewriting the entire 80gb and the total blow of stupidity from the unCreative Assembly Studio it comes from the fact that the game will now INSTALL all those 80 gb.
Why not just redownload the entire 80gb game and done with this "patching" bs
Also, this is Steam’s update process. Not CA’s.
I don't know how it was in Rome 2, but in WH this "small download, lots of rewriting" was the deal with most updates.
The options currently are
1. Auto update
2. Update when launched
3. High priority update.
The obvious 4th option - Never update is missing.
Also since Steam doesn't allow that CA needs to do a better job of deploying updates. I'd say their is a low percentage of people who will ever need this 9GB update.
No, i'm the kind of guy who doesn't like when CA removed blood from their TW games and then sell it to us separately as DLC, but at least when they are patching our games, they really need to do it better then this crap
