Forced download of Language Packs Again?

Players of Three Kingdoms total war would know that CA recently added the game to gamepass. As a consequence, all 3K players were forced to download more than 10GB of language files. No ifs or buts. Totally unnecessary bloating that caused many to uninstall.

Looks like history is repeating itself again. I would not be surprised if CA announces later that the patch are language files.

While we're at doing completely wasteful things let's join CA and all go grab a can of aerosol doesn't matter what it is and go outside and just empty it straight up into the atmosphere because that's what this patch is. I wonder if you have 5 different total war games installed is that 50gigs more to download for language files?

"many to uninstall" I know I'd be hella pissed if CA made me download anything except English. Totally unacceptable. What do they expect me to do, learn all of the languages to get the most of my free 10gb update that took me 15 minutes to download? Preposterous. Just for this, I am uninstalling EVERY SINGLE CA GAME I OWN. TIME TO RISE UP AGAINST THE OTHER LANGUAGES AND CA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Irritating, all I do is delete the files once downloaded, WH1 did the same, 3GB of language files. Idiotic, and pointless.

Even if there is, it probably downloads them again if you ever have to verify files.

Classic CA behavior then. Their "management" of their steam update and steam depot stuff is clown show deluxe at this point.

You could theoretically dump the unneeded files onto some dumpster data storage device and hard/softlink them into the game, this would prevent redownloads due to verifications.

Even windows can do that, but I forgot how.
Edit: it's done using the mklink console command.

No it doesnt. I saved up 23 GB of space just from this game alone by deleting audio and locale files from Data folder other than EN. I did same thing with my Three Kingdoms. Seriously tho taking hostage of apporixemelty 50 GB ssd should not be allowed. Not everyone is rich and lives in prosperous countries. i have 450 GB of m.2 and it was expensive.

Its infuriating to see what little i had taken with stupid reasons.

I think you are being hyperbolic because I only see people rightly being like wtf trash decision is that in today's day and age. That kind of nonsense costs unnecessary money from the top to the bottom.

Full disclosure- it added nothing to my personal expenditures, but I am not so naive as to not understand what a dippy and unnecessary impact that had on everyone.

Me being one of those in the middle, I will say I wasn't going to bother commenting in this thread and I'd guess the same is true for everyone else in the middle. I mean really, there are the people having headaches from it who are rightly here to complain, and then the defenders here to defend CA's honour and hope it'll date them as the only people who are really going to care enough to post.

Me, I understand the issue with big wastes of drive space especially for people who just got an SSD or otherwise have limited storage space, but I have a 3.5TB hard drive that I put most large games on and a 1TB SSD (which admittedly is full at this point). so 50gb here and there isn't a huge issue (though it would add up if it was like, every game I own). So what do I really have to say. CA doesn't care about our storage space, we already paid them.
