Mannfred is a magical powerhose capable of taking on armies once he gets his dragon.
Vlad is a strong footlord that is most likely going to be the last one standing of whatever army he's in thanks to his regen cap, and Isabella is a good supporting lord that makes Vlad even stronger when they reinforce each other. (I think Isabella has the better Faction skill, but its debatable)
I think buffing Krell would help make Kemmler a more interesting choice. He has so much potential as a badass hero but is currently nothing but a mediocre summon.
Similar thing with Mannfred/Ghorst. Mannfred gets a little more than a movement buff but not much. Ghorst gets a massive 20% replenishment rate among other nice things. Granted it takes a bit longer to recruit Mannfred and he's a better lord.
Kemmler is fun but requires masses of Micro, under your control, HexWraiths are unstoppable, under AI, they are useless, and has no siege attacker
Ghorst, meh,
That leaves Manfred
For reference, I conquered level 5 Karaz-a-Karak with Thorgrim and a full stack of hammerers and longbeards sitting inside it with nothing but Isabella, 12 vampires, and a unit of Crypt Horrors (for their siege attacker trait).
People think that Mannfred has a huge winds of magic pool. Those people clearly haven't seen what 13 arcane conduits running at the same time can do.
