I thought Warhammer Fantasy was dead?
A few games coming out using Warhammer fantasy. This game, Chaos Bane and of course War III eventually. Is the lore still a live and well, because I was under the impression games workshop decided to retire the warhammer fantasy lore and mainly focus on 40K and their new Age of Sigma?

It is dead.

The tabletop game was discontinued to make way for AoS, but still games related to Fantasy Battle like TW:WIII may still come out.

They licensed a three games deal with CA so they can’t continue to milk a product they’ve “retired.”

As far as I know, the Tabletop is not officially supported by the company now, so that means AoS and 40K only.

However, I think they still do some writing in that universe and they’re happy to make some money from PC games.

The Warhammer Fantasy rpg is still being supported, as it got a new edition last year. The war games are still dead though.

It is dead as the Tabletop wont be supported or its story updated.

What is being updated though is the Lore prior to the End Times like with the new RPG book that came out or now with this game where we even get new factions and lots of old fluff revived or in the case of Chaosbane visit a story not yet told.

There is always more room to expand inbetween since lots of it was left vague or as a small footnote, the only thing we cant is to progress further.

Yea it is dead, but it's also much more interesting and fun than AoS.

How many video games does AoS have? Zilch.

In these times the tabletop probably is dead due to the cost. Have to get our nerd kicks here.
Hexatorium Mar 18, 2019 @ 12:43pm
Well technically it's still alive n kicking, as age of sigmar, but fantasy proper got End Time'd.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but even though Fantasy Battles was discontinued, there's no stopping anyone who was interested in trying the tabletop war game, assuming they bought all the rule sets and miniatures second hand.

Yup, so it's technically still alive. Just there's no new lore or rules or anything coming out anymore IIRC.

Gap fillers are nice, but it's a shame they destroyed it because I would have loved to have gotten into the lore. The more great games that are coming out such as this one, the more new people are being introduced to it. Wouldn't it have made sense for them to keep adding to it now that quality games using that lore are now finally coming out? Vermintide, Total War, Chaosbane etc.

It's kinda sad it took so much time to get quality video-games out of this universe, but better late than never. I guess GW wanted to deter the fanbase from turning to PC gaming and not buy their pricey minis anymore.

There was actually a joke at some point about GW sending an army of lawyers after you for using unofficial figures, I think. I swear I'm not making this up it had to have happened sometime long ago, because I heard that joke ages ago.
