Festag? But it is an Imperial Holiday?

I've heard people discuss Skaven, Dark Elf, High Elf, Orc.. they might be the DLC, but they aren't really Festag material. The Empire is. And though the last update did give us the Hunter and the Beast and a lot of Imperial rework and stuff, that might not be the end, that update to the mechanics of the Empire wasn't simply a change of mechanics, a facelift, but it was also an enabler.

.. the Hunter and the Beast enabled multiple factions for the Empire; the previous incarnation was centered around the Imperial court, and only had Empire as a playable faction. The court centered around Karl Franz, so it had to only Reikland, Heart of the Empire.

Now it instead focus on Imperial Province politics, and can finally have multiple factions. I doubt it will stop at Balthasar Gelt and the Huntsmaster. that they will be the only ones. And which character has been a fan favorite for a long time, an Imperial Lord many of us would like to be playable? Todbringer. Middenheim!

.. and why does this make sense? Festag is an Imperial period of festivity. It is not celebrated by the Dwarves or Elves or any of the other races, not even the Bretonnians. It is uniquely an Imperial celebration. Also making Boris Todbringer playable would be likely to give us one of the most iconic Imperial units which has been missing until now, the Knights of the White Wolf. The Imperial knights wielding warhammers as they are charging into their foes, it is one of the most iconic Warhammer units! The warhammer itself is a symbol of the game. That the Knights of the White Wolf has been lacking until now has been a gap, a hole in the roster, since the first TW:Warhammer.

Boris Todbringer and Middenheim, a sometimes snowfilled province of Ulrik, God of war and winter, and the Knights of the White Wolves. Why call it the Festag update if it doesn't actually touch upon the Empire?

It might even bring in Warrior Priests of Ulric. Just like there are many kinds of wizards sharing the wizard hero pool, there could be Sigmarites and Ulrik worshippers sharing the Warrior Priest pool. It is a thought.

Of course, I might be wrong, and I doubt this update would focus only on the Empire, but wouldn't Boris Todbringer, Middenheim and the Knights of the White Wolf be a nice addition to the playable factions and units?

If there is a main DLC of other races? Sure! No problem. I will be disappointed though if Festag doesn't bring in Todbringer as a part of the DLC or a FLC at the same time.

Perhaps I am just setting myself up for disappointment.

They said it's not a cross game dlc. So the dlc is definitely for 2 wh2 factions.

The flc could be either though. Could be Boris. Could be some other empire lord. Or it could be for one of the 2 dlc factions. Or it could be something else entirely. All we know is that flc is not skaven.

Among all the discussions we had so far most likely outcome was skaven vs DE dlc with an Flc lord for DE.

I don't really want Boris, I'm not that into him or hyped on him like others. Much rather prefer Kurt Helborg/Elspeth Von Draken.

-the DLC will not be a crossover (so no game#1 races. At all.)
-there are no plans for DLC for DLC (so no TK or Vampirates)
Which means the rival DLC itself will cover the four core races of game#2.
-Lizards can probably ruled out, since they are already on top with 2 DLCs recently.

That leaves three races, from where we pick two.
-The Festtag FLC LL will not be Skaven. Which literally does not mean much, since the DLC would get only one FLC LL anyway and one of the two participating races has to deal with that. Remember that with rival DLCs so far the FLC LL ALWAYS was of one of the particpating races. Vlad for Grim & Grave, Wurrzag for King & Warlord, Alitha Anar for Queen & Crone, TikTakTo for Prophet & Warlock, Gor-rok for Hunter & Beast...
-It was hinted that with that DLC/FLC we might see a Fan Favourite. Which is pretty vague on itself, since people have different tastes and god knows what CA sees as fan favourites (hello Tretch...). First reaction toward this would of course be Malus Darkblade or Thanquol, which undeniable have a lot of fans from WHFB. Ironicly also Thanquols solos adventures outside the Gotrek & Felix novels will have a Omnibus end of the month

Since the FLC LL is not Skaven, Thanquol could still be the LL in the DLC itself if Skaven are included. But a lot of people think that Thanquol might be hold hostage further to probably show up in game#3.

We will learn it soon enough. I would expect wednsday teaser and thursday trailer either the coming week, or the following. After that the two-week preorder phase would go to far into december, leaving no room to wiggle around or hotfix stuff enough before everyone is at holiday vacation until february. But yeah, if you hope for some "Old World" DLC like Todbringer you are already setting yourself up for disappointment :P

we can see that last was adding 1 empire faction to vortex, add 4 hero legendary, and 2 mercenary...and before lot of horde faction.
this is new dlc design, so we can hope for on odl faction joining vortex,
i would like some bretonnian or skeggi.+ mercenary for evil faction.

classic 2 lords dlc:
largest empire are HE and DE, with around 15faction for each, only 4 are playable...lizard have too much faction, so may skaven or tomb king,..but i will bet on a Caledor/DE
but you need originality on how is played the faction. and start location.

mixxed:
you can think to dwarf / tor elasor, the war of the beards make gotrek himself siege them :p gotrek as a horde faction^^? and eltharion against him?
caledor/chaos, and story around vortex and phoenix king, with unit center around dragon and big demon...
etc...
