For "Storm of Chaos v2" aka "The (horrible) Endtimes", he did not exactly got that role back but when the name Valten dropped, veterans immediatly knew that this would not be an ordinary soldier either.
It is also noteworthy that the terrible written Endtimes killed 90% of the special characters and most in utterly stupid battles or ways that did absolutely nothing. There is a reason why GWs official "The Endtimes" are so despised around fans. And why CA so far did not really touch that pile of garbage, but rather writes their own story as evidently seen thorugh the whole Vortex campaign. So the best advise I can give you: Ignore "The Endtimes" stuff. Avoid it like the plague, espeically since you had your first taste and already seem easily triggered by that alone.

Oh sure dozens of characters go out like punks but Skarsnik just wins Eight Peaks, Gobbla dies in the process like a punk, and Skarsnik literally just gets forgotten about despite the fact he's supposed to be Mork's champion or whatever the ♥♥♥♥.
It´s was a hastily cobbled together chop-job to close down oldhammer so they could focus everything on newhammer.
