Ikit can also buff them to be mega rattling gunners they are broken op.
Couple this with some catapults and cannons and youre melting everything. Just dont get flanked
Anyway, 1 stack visible, 1 in ambush. It's the skaven way. You can even massacre dawi doomstacks like this.
Ikit is the one skaven that does not need to play this way. At all. Ratling gunners + jezzails are too strong. AND NOW WE HAVE Poisoned wind mortars! :)
Here's what I've done in the campaign.
-Fight the first pirate battle-win
-Build up your base, take your time and harass the pirates until they offer peace.
-Turn your armies onto the Skaven that's directly below you that have the Altar of the Somethngorother.
-Make friends with the Dread Dark Elves and The Plague Lord Skaven guy. -the Dark Elf tends to take sea ports, which means rogue armies tend to bother him and not me. Whereas the other Skaven tends to be aggressive and is a great ally. I've confederate him but I've found him to be more useful as an ally.
-Join in on your allies wars. Take over any town you can and build your empire focusing on 2 provinces to get your armies supplied with soldiers and the rest turned towards gold production.
- Establish undercities in the harder to take down enemies in cities you're planning on conquering in the future. Build both upgrades that help your undercity remain undiscovered and then unlock the building that has a 5-10% chance to spread undercities to adjacent provinces per turn. You might want to take a warlock and just send him off to meet new civilizations and plant undercities periodically. Basically what will happen is you'll spread undercities every so often. Which in turn lowers their public order and spreads skaven corruption which gives more uses of Enemy Below.
-Once you get ready to take down those cities, you can demonlish the mining building and replace it with the building that explodes (razing the city) or the one that summons an army.
-Your plague priests are great, if you know you're going to be attacking in a few turns or use it to weaken an enemy that's building up in strength, especially ones that are warring other factions.
As far as armies go. Ikit has about 7-8 gatling rates which go in the front lines. Your melee fighters behind them ready to jump forth once the enemy gets too close. Once melee fighter engage with your line, you'll want to pull your gatling rats to the side of the battle and flank the enemy. I have 4 catapults and 1 renown lightning cannon. I have three snipers to be honest I was thinking of switching out the snipers for something else, they're not that useful. Death globbers or warpfire throwers might be a viable option. or maybe poison runners I also might replace the melee frontline fighters with rat ogres or doomflayers/doom wheel.
When I start the battle I start hammering on the enemy with my catapults and cannons. I don't meet the enemy on the battlefield I let them come to me. The gatling rats destroy the enemy, and I use my heroe's magic when I can. When the enemy below comes available I'll pop those behind the enemies that's heading towards me. If you place it right you can get the armies to all target that summons which is a good time to check who your catapults are firing upon and using as many spells as possible. Make sure you spawn them behind the enemy, so your gatlings target the backs of anyone who turns to fight those guys.
When I fought Gor-Rock I destroyed his army.
If you're going to have an army back you up. Even if it's just going to be a trashmob army with nothing but skaven slaves I recommend a few catapults.
Skaven are similar to the Dwarves, except instead of strong sturdy soldiers they have massive numbers and the ability to surround the enemy. Both have really strong ranged.
Also having a heroe fight in your battles is great. The doom engineer has a spell that's a bomb that splits up into a few bombs that works really well.
And your undercities have a building that grants you the ability to use skaven bombs. Which essentially turn your creatures into walking powder kegs. I use this spell in combination with summons rats from below, it's highly effective spawned in the middle of an enemy.
