I tried to like Attila but it just didn’t do it for me.
I’m not a fan of the “here’s a sandbox but at turn X we made it so one faction comes along and wrecks everyone” set up. Big reason why I didn’t like the campaign of W1.
I get that it’s historical but that’s just not fun to me.
I also didn’t like how the game is just punishing by default. Every so often I try and go back to it because I hype myself up that playing a campaign as a resurgent WRE that defeats the barbarians and reclaims it’s glory could be awesome…but then I usually rage quit when by turn 10 I’ve lost 5 settlements to rebels, have minor factions tearing up my borderlands, plagues are running rampant, my economy is in the garbage, and my military effectiveness is equivalent to throwing a pillow at a mass of 1 million screaming berserkers.
